Jason amazing work mate , and a great effort in the humidity aswell.
I love your thinking outside the square and would have loved to have posted on your thread but Im not a member

Short and sweet update that took all day on the EK today , Ive been fitting the lower area channeling to continue the curve down onto the old door jamb creating a little strength .
This also allowed me to have a better perspective on window frames ,glass and mechanisms .

Anywayz a day of little to show but lots done ;)

Thanks Jay , Just wish she was as shiny as yours ;) and Ive often considered that colour .
Thats very close to the XM coupe I drove through my teens and also in my teens I developed a healthy hatred for &*#@ mechanicals then moved on to Holdens and never looked back .
So this coupe is kinda like combining the two hence the window line coming to a sharp edge like the XM rather than the EK style.

By the way Im reconsidering the white ,Painting the interior and engine bay once is the go and apparently flat colours hold dirt and smudges well .
Not keen on white so Im considering a kinda titanium grey which I think will go with the rich gold colour.

What do you guys think
Image

May even consider this so it appears raw metal

Maybe its just me but the paint on the truck makes it look like a rubbed back bare metal.. Is that the look you are after??? With the straight black rims.

Or are you going to chrome it up like the last shots?

I would be after something that looked so deep that you could swim in it... But like I said the paint choice is so personal, what I may not like everyone else will love and vice versa.

Doesn't help your decision any does it..

Jason Im planning on running the chromies untill I can afford the P76 disks and modern wheels .
The gold on the beltline aint happenin but Im thinking of shading the beautie lines to emphasize them espacialy the door/quarter.

Austmod Im glad you are in love , most young blokes fall in love sooner or later ,and at times you just need to shout it out to the world ay .
Id recomend here  8)

Mmmm...really nice lines Harko. I'm starting to think this may well be one of the most spot on conversions I've seen on an FB/EK body shape. Can't wait to see the finished product.

So would that make it look a little like your cartoon running at the moment...

I like the shading on that.

Not quite sure what you mean by the beautie lines... I haven't heard this term before.

But which ever it is you choose I am sure it will look the goods..

JB

P.S I did a similar thing with the windscreen... goes off with a bang and takes hours to clean up and if not days to get it all out...

Beautie lines are any accent or swage , I was just thinking of visually deepening the concave curve that runs along the top of the door and into the quarter, although Im going to cut the top of the door off and reposition it so that its running straight from the base of the windscreen pillar across to the rear winscreen pillar. matching the roofline.
The only other major mod left is to cut the dash instruments section and move the whole instrument area across to the right ,but it will depend on steering geometry so will see when Im closer.

This was funny today , had a chrome window surround from the drivers door of an oldsmbile sitting on the EK to mimmick the look it will have.

I also had some original door frame and I was asking the missus which one looks the best , we both had a moment and looked at each other thinking "the car doesent look chopped"
I kicked myself for all this work and you cant tell its chopped , then I had a look over it to see if I could just drop it a little more (easily}
but its impossible without more major surgery .

I walked away in a fowl mood and after a while I thought (maybe the proportions are just spot on and it looks factory) and after finding a picture of a stocker and standing back we both said "yeah its chopped" hehe

yep...that's why I think I like where it's going. Subtle enough to make you wonder, but sit it next to a stocker and I bet a few jaws will drop.
Nice.

alot of people will say the best chop is one that's not at first noticable where you kinda have to look twice, but on some cars i really like the seriously squashed look

Agreed... stop doubting yourself!!! Its awesome!

Not many have the balls to do what you are doing, me included.

And the fact that it looks factory is a testament.

When is the first drive??? C'mon pull your finger out

RB
Totally agree on some cars...I especially love a vicious chop on 30s rods. Looks mad to see a set of eyes peering out from a letterbox sized front screen...also dig the really slammed and chopped look of a lot of the US 40s and 50s based customs.
For some reason though, I've never been able to get my head around a severe chop on an FB/EK. Might just be the proportions of the rest of the body that doesn't agree with me. Not to say I think they look BAD, just that a really flowing chop seems to work better in my mind.
Either way, can't wait to see where Harko takes this baby.
Cheers, Scott

Funny though Ratboxs coupe was my inspiration and its looking alot different ,
The chop is the same I thought but the proportions are fooling your eye .
I wanted to keep the rear window glass and this kinda opens up the rear visually ,along with moving the rear window forward 8 inches/200 cm it takes the radical chop look away from it and gives it more of the original flow.

Ive superimposed ratboxs over the top but its a little hard to see it ,on the computer its possible switch it on and off and it makes it easy to see.

Image

ore heres a quick conversion but obviousely the rear window is different
Its extending the fin and shrinking the roof

Image

Some of the first pictures Ive done had the fins extended but I realised what I was trying to achieve and decided against it ,then shortened the roof to extend the fin .

The flow chop suits curvy cars and a stomped chop suits a squared roof I reckon , Animal the black EK Ute - square roof and a 7 inch chop looks awesome but a sedan with a 7 inch chop wouldnt be so apealing.

Oldnblue and Fevan , your two comments are the best two in the thread and are very much apreciated , thank you.

By the way ,the rear pillar channels have taken 2 days so far to shape shorten and weld in ..... Ive still got 2 more days and planning to maybe sort out the new parcel shelf
