Hi Stewart,
was wonderin were you were with it.
just a question .. did that POR stuff take weldin?
I know its good stuff for just bare steel but havnt seen what it does if welded.
I'd be puttin some more on to any of it whch got burned off.

Hey Stew,

I think I mentioned it before, but how good is it to have someone who is a skilled craftsman like Lou on board to lend a hand. Especially with all the work thats needed on the OLD TIMER.
Good work going on in The STEWART Garage.

Many thanks Gary, Dave, Dee, John and Frank. It's been a while since the last update. Things ARE happening but life is fairly hectic and time isn't something I have had a lot of lately. Also Loui has picked up a few other jobs...isn't that right Dave68...

...how's the ute going?

Dee - POR handled welding OK. Yes more POR will go over the welds.

Will post up some more progress pics soon...

OK time for an update…seeing the last one was 30 March…

I guess that's what happens when you only spend a couple of hours every weeks or so (if that)...

slow n steady....

Goes without saying Loui is doing a top notch job in the welding department and I'm getting pretty handy with the grinder...

Remaining floor plan section welded in

That outer sill has to come off…

Hmmm a few previous repair jobs there...

All cleaned up with some more die grinding to do...

Another piece to the jigsaw...

Two coats of POR and some rattle can for good luck...

Rear dogleg...yep it's a mess...

A pillar outer skin in place

Outer skin welded in...time to get the grinder out...

next chapter will be get the doors back on so the outer sill can be lined up for welding in

You must be just about through the hardest parts by now.
You have rebuilt half the car.

. Although its not the best job in a rebuild, it sure is pleasing/rewarding to see the cancer disappearing and knowing she will be around in another 40 yrs.

When you've got DOC working for you anything can happen, Since the timing gear drama, Stewarts been seen out riding a Hover Board...

You're on the money Finny...we started with the hardest sections first and once the pasenger outer sill is in I might even admit that we have just about broken the back of it...all downhill from here...just both rear quarters, fire wall, subframe, gutters both sides, front guards, petrol tank well, zillions of other holes...Hmm on second thoughts...maybe not...

travel into the future...freudian slip that one I think...

Too right Ben...trouble is I'm thinking that after all this work I'm going to be very paranoid when its on the road.

Looks can be deceiving as I have found many times...donor section reveals swiss cheese after blasting

welded in. The thing I have learnt with the rebuild is even though you can cut the identical piece out of another EK...it will be different...in this case there was a 5 mil width difference in the dogleg section

Outers sill tacked in. The passenger side sill proved a lot more difficult than the drivers side...maybe because there had been previous sill repairs? Notice too the gap at the bottom of the rear door. The door gaps are spot on at the top and the sides but the bottom gap proved terrible. The actual bottom edge of the door drops to the rear quarter...any suggestions?
