You could pick this up relitively cheap have a bitchin motor ready to go plus a spare body to get parts you need to restore yours. Everything you need is in this one!!!

that's awesome, worst rust is in the chassis but a kit will fix that.... probably not i'm thinking! idiots!

Well i have sat down with my next door neighbour and we have came up with these parts

Better plugs and leads
Extactors and a 2 and a quarter inch system
If theo Z head is in good condition i will going a Wade Cam
spectre pod filter and adaptor to fit holley 350
get a new coil pack

That is i would like to do to the enigine now.

I would rather stick to holley as i can get a good deal on the standard 350. But i would really like to get the racing 350 one
In my opinion don't bother with the Pod for starters an simple open all round air cleaner will do just fine, and you probably wont no the difference, also you might get a good deal on the 350, but as mentioned alot these really aren't suited to a red 6, and whether mild or wild, will drink the fuel to match and probably cost you alot more in the long run! i would go the elec dizzy form a blue motor however, should cost no more than 70 bucks for one in good working nick...

Cheers

Gotta agree with nomad's comments on the 350 Holley  .I don't like Holleys personally for same reasons nomad says.

The Weber 2 barrel carbies from XE XF F#*cons can be made to fit by buying an adaptor kit and modifying accelerator to suit.Never done it myself but have heard from other blokes they are a cheap an very good upgrade carby for the red six.

I like Weber carbs personally, go good, sound even better and easy to work on, but expensive ( like most carbs are ) to buy if you decide to buy new ones.

A little bit easier would be the WW stromberg 2 barrel carbies and matching 2 barrel Holden manifold from the "S" series Holden engines, another cheapish upgrade from the standard single barrel strombergs.
They were good enough for the mild cammed S series engines that Holden had in the Monaro's and Torana's.

You'll probably get a myriad of other suggestions from other blokes about carb selection on whatever engine.... all have different opinions....these are my two cheaper suggestions for you.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

SPL it's not a matter of don't run a Holley at all, do you research into them, talk to people that have tried and tested, people generally say do this or don't do this to a red cause they have been playing around with them upto 50 years, everythings been done to bits on them!

Look at jet sizes and that to suit the power your are archiving from your engine, yes it will cost dollars to setup correctly, but let me tell you just throwing a holley on will cost you lots more in petrol that you think, you'll also proabbly find it won' deliver the power you are expecting, you'll probably find a correctly jetted 2barrel 500 or even 465 / 390 4 barrels will deliver smoother power and can be setup more economical, just because you decided on something years ago doens't make it the best choice, talk to engine builders that are still around today that were 20 - 30 years ago and built these engines every day... ask people on the forum what luck they have had with what holley setups and sizing.... you will peobably be pretty surprised with the results

Cheers

well i was looking at the performance world auto site and came accross this carby. it is the first carby at the top

http://www.performanceworld.com.au/carby.htm

As when i rang today and talked to the guy about carby's. He said come down and we will go through with what you want out of the enigne.

But he just said the 320cfm 'EconoMaster' would suit the red motor reallygood but if you do want to get the 350 Holley he will put smaller jets in it to suit.

i think iv worked it out.....u want power, but dont have the $$$ so u wanna do it cheep, im not sure what state ur in but in nsw ur car would have to be enginered for the 202, as far as im aware u have to do the same things to ur car to fit a v8 as u do a 202, so why not just put in a v8?

u would have to do less to it to get that power, and if u want more, just do more, unless u add forced induction 250-300 would be the most u would get out of a 202.

feel free to correct me guys, but thats what i think u should do.

aidan...
i'll get there....

Yeah that is it my70wg i want power but i don't have much money. the reason why i don't want a V8 is that i am only 16 and that means i have to wait 5 years before i can drive the car. so that would be a waste of a car and money. Also yes when i am 21 i want to put a T04 turbo onto it.

Yes, in NSW same mods required for 202 installation as required for V8 fitment.

Dunno 'bout QLD requirements but I'd guess they'd be similar.

Just stick with the 202 you have at the moment SPL with sensible power upgrades.

Forget horsepower figures, they were invented for underendowed pissheads to brag about in the pub!!
