I tell you what 4d!,

That body you've scored is a bloody beauty.
Going by the photos, to find a body with tight & even, door and boot gaps is a great score.
and with that you can safely say, she's never been damaged or crashed. And thats a fantastic starting point.
I know it sounds odd, but it will make your build easier to work on.

coming along nicely man, some nasty looking rust in the passenger sill though!!

just a question, why do you have a blue/black motor inlet manifold on a red motor head ?

Sammy.

I had the manifold with a 350 holley in the garage and thought it would go better than the standard manifold and carb. I haven't started the engine yet so this may turn out to be an experiment.

Actually I ended up putting a 173 I picked up cheap into it. Because the engine I had was a blue engine and I didn't have the anti pollution outlet manifold this ended up being simpler and cheaper than finding a manifold. Now before everyone kindly starts offering manifolds they have laying around I will add that the 173 has removed some rego requirements as well.
Anyway I will either feel better about the 173 (or worse tomorrow). I will be firing it up tomorrow for the first time.

173 rev better anyway, plus they don't have the dreaded reputation of cracking the tops off the pistons like 202's do.

thats only because people rev the crap out of them with heads and cams without putting decent pistons in them :D

OK so it has been a while since I last updated this post. Any way I have been slowly chipping away at this each sunday. These are the latest photos

It's funny reading the old plan I had. There have been some changes.
173 wouldn't start. Now have a 161 HP engine
Currently have a 3.23 ratio diff with a 3.08 diff head sitting in the shed waiting.
HR disks in the front, couldn't get 1 of the pistons out of the torana ones.
Bucket seats. Went to recover the bench seat and found lots of springs broken and missing.
I wish I knew then what I know now.
