Whats this part called?

Post by MBH222 »

A pictures worth a 1000 words and I have tried to outline the part Im referring to.

Image

Its a rubber cup that goes over the handbrake cable and sits on the end of the handbrake shaft.

This rubber has perrished and split so now the handbrake cable keeps popping out. Only lasts a few pulls then popps out again - tried a few time already

Im off to the auto shop soon but going in with a part name would be much easier to explain. Would this be a hard part to source and if so can anyone from the Sydney/Sth Highlands area recommend a shop where these are stocked?

Thanks.

According to my GMH master parts cattledog Holden gave it the very inventive name of "Grommet":- (handbrake cable through dash) and has a Holden part number of 7409488 and fits FE/FC/FB/EK.

Can't tell you anymore than that sorry.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

that doesn't hold the hadbrake cable in all the ones i've come across they're held in with a bit of tie wire, if you look on the shaft where the ball sits in you'll see a groove the wire sits in, pain in the arse to just did one
