My "Special" toy
good to hear...sorry to say something like that, just you put so much effort into the other engine/bay work i would hate to see a few areas let down your great work and spoil it for you!
but keep going mate, your work makes me want to get out there again, but currently in one of those periods where a few other things need to come first!
Cheers

It worked
Thanks for the tips on the welding fellas. I left a gap between the two pieces on the door extension, worked a treat
Had to add about 5mm to the top of the part that covers the pillar to line the doors up properly........

Stripped to metal and primed.........

Got the drivers side all stripped down to metal and primed.....

Yes Wayne - ditto above....
Please refresh my memory (it's a bit chogged at present) - were you contemplating keyless entry and quarterless windows?.... I can't remember...
when you come to the luggage compartment floor - you may like to consider changing the spare wheel well size - all that work in mine and I'm going to have to go back in there to cater for larger spare wheel.....
Like you door extensions - sad thing is that many will not even notice them - but we will........
keep her ticking over - no need to stamp on the loud pedal any harder - you should be somewhere near the end of the journey when the time arrives.....
frats,
Rosco

Thanks Fellas....
No Rosco I wasn't going for either of those things.
Sound great though, maybe next time
Progress today........ Stripped the roof down and primed.
It's great being able to strip the panels down and not have to contend with dents or rust

Don't ever believe that no-one will notice - Wayne...... you will and that's the important thing to remember.... you're doing these things for you.... not others.....
Looks great - wish I'd thought of it whilst I was working in that area.......
You'll be amazed at what some people will not see - I have a red in mine and get a bit humored by over-hearing people say "these old grey motors were a reliable old motor" .... even though mine is a grey painted red......or is that a red painted grey ..... OK.... it's a red motor painted grey..... play on words... confused..?
and....
I welded little tri-angles to the cut off ends on my radiator baffle - just to make the flutes look "finished".... you'd be surprised at how many see these.... but not the red....
As we have mentioned many times before - often it's the "factory" finished look which doesn't get seen - by people outside our passion.... but from within - nothing you do will go un-noticed...... as long as it is in view........
keep her coming - I can see you're getting a lot of "smile" out of this ......
