Can anyone tell me what this switch does and how it works
The switch is on the top of the steering column, next to the gearbox linkages....
I'm guessing it may be a reverse light switch
If it is I can't tell how it would work, and I can't remember ever disconnecting it way back when I pulled it apart
I've looked through old posts with steering column pics and haven't seen one.
Any help would be great

There is a small piece of plastic on the back of the switch that I would guess be what controls the 'switch'.
It could be snapped off maybe. Is this meant to be longer so as it then connects with the linkages?

Yep, as FC visitor said, its the reverse light switch with the actuator arm missing. When box is put into reverse that top linkage in the photo would move the arm and actuate the reverse lights.
The missing arm is made of plastic and about 3 inches long if that helps you.Maybe its in a box of parts you have
I went out and had another look I think it's snapped off
The base of it is still there.
Looks like you can't just change the actuator. You have to change the whole switch
Where can I get one of these from?
I checked the rarespares site......... not there
