Holden FB Special 1960 in Cape Town, South Africa

Post by waheed »

Hi all

Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa

Here is my dad-in-laws recently restored Holden FB Special 1960.

Can anyone help me with correct imperial measurements of the oil seal size between the prop shaft and the gearbox please?

Also tell me what its worth? Any offers? :D

Thats exactly the same horn button I used to have before I dropped it on the workshop floor, and took a chunck out of it.

Nice looking FB, be the 8 to 10 bracket for sure.
I would keep it, I bit of Aussie history in Sth Africa dosn't go astray.

Hey Guys,
I remember when Rare Spares started to get into Ek and FBs with the NOS parts, a lot of them were sourced from South Africa.
Turns out that all the spares sent in the early 60s eventually found there way back here!
Car is looking good are there many still over there?

Gday Waheed
Welcome to forum
The car came up real nice with the restoration, great job 8)
I noticed the wiper knob from the dash and the knob on the indicator
stalk are missing, do you have these parts or are they missing?
Also the rubber pads for the clutch and brake pedals are still avaliable
here if you cant get them there.
Great car, great colours, glad to see you sharing the pics with us.
Are there many other old holdens still roaming the streets in South Africa?
Cheers
Jeff

Thanks for the complements, evaluation, input and suggestions guys. I really do appreciate it and am amazed how many FB fans there are out there!

I thought all FB's had that horn button? Well its gr8 to know its a special one :D

I will look for that serial plate, its pretty original (one owner before we got it) so I am sure its there.

I thought that was the wiper switch  It obviously was replaced by the previous owner. I dont have the knob on the stalk or the pedal rubbers - wow u guys really know your detail :D Thats fantastic! At some stage I will buy a nice long list of all that i need
These were popular cars in the 60's here but I don t see any on the road. Sadly there is not even a Holden Club as far as I can tell..thats why I feel so at home here..gr8 site!

The roof color was an error on the spray painters part  Its just too much trouble for me to send it back and risk the green not matching..so I will leave it as such for now, but i realise its not original color scheme.

Thanks again guys..I know i will learn a lot here!

Kind regards
