Fantachrome
Has anyone used fantachrome?
Its a spray on metal finish...looks like chrome and you can paint anything...they have a completely chromed BMW pic on the website...and is said to be as durable as paint. Website says its a fraction of cost of electorplating. A chrome steering wheel???
I ask c's every chromer i spoke to about pitted chrome wanted me to remortgage my house to pay for it and then couldn't guarantee finish, saying it may end up more pitted than before rechroming.
Would be interested to find out if anyone has had it done, what it cost, what the finish is like and how durable?

I know exactly what the material is expected to do.
But it can turn out like the old spray chrome, or something much worse.
Trust me, I look into almost every new material or process that comes along promising magic results with minimal experience ability and cost.
Spoke to a guy in the industry that spent thousands setting up and trying to achieve the desired results, so he could offer an alternative process to plating.
But he was unable to get "That look" on a regular basis.
He eventually gave it away.
If this stuff was the magic answer you would be seeing it everywhere on everything, especially seeing that several companies have been offering their versions of it for the last few years.
But go ahead and try it, I am interested in seeing the results you get.

funny you say that sc had a guy over our side that spent thousands and thousands of dollars setting up to do this product spent most of his time in contact with the agents that were franchising the product he couldnt get the desired finish that they promised and couldnt get the product to stick permanetly ( if you chipped it you could grab an edge and peel it away) after 7 months of different aproches he has ended up in court trying to get back his money that he put in to set up worst thing has been the amount of customers coming back to abuse him and demand there money back because the product has failed
would have been a great product if it would have worked i had all sorts of ideas for it
HEY IT WASNT ME

I looked at this system 5 years ago, 25g's for a francise.
Was $1450 to do a course with it, and if you where to be francisee this payment would be reimbersed. PPC were the company at the time if I remember correctly.
I had seriously looked at the options as I had other ideas, for its usethe end result looks great in glossy mags and promo parafanalia. But up close looks not like chrome and the product was not very durable as the claims they had made out.
I have seen many samples with the system, and with light buffing, finished pieces looked like they were tarnished, and if you were to polish, the product would come off. The companys answer to these questions were, they were done incorrectly, But it was the company whom supplied the samples. So go figure!
Material product was exepensive to buy as well.
