unbolting guards

Post by paroharo »

this is a rookie question  but I need to ask it..
where else - apart from in the engine bay - do you need to unbolt the front guards to remove them?
I'm guessing maybe behind the kick panel in the cabin?
Is this right and are there any others?
cheers

if you have a look inside your wheel arch with the wheel off you will see up towards the front the guard will be joined to the front beaver, and obviously the bumper bar will have to come off and besides what youve already mentioned i cant think off anything else off the top of my head

thanks mat,
I should have mentioned I already have the bumper, grille and beaver panel off.
the main thing I'm asking about is the part of the guard that's flush with the front of the front door, how is that secured to the car?

i think theres 4 half inch heads nead socket with exstention long one,,,,,,,, in the inside of front pillar ,,theres 2 on the bottem rear of guard to body ,,the support bracket in the wheel arch has two,,, and underneath between stone tray and guard,,, once all are out pull gaurd away from body at the bottom rear of gaurd in front of door and pull it out and upwards which helps it go forward , they can be flexed alot,,, make sure the bumper and support rod are undone bumper gone,,, disconnect head light wires first and poke the grommet and wires through the inner gaurd ,,, and just work her loose
when they start building them like that again i will buy a new car of them

Tip - stuff a rag at the base of the 'A' pillar cavity to catch anything falling from your socket & disappearing, & it will - same for re-fit,
