Hi All,
Way back in March this year I posted questions regarding a 3.08 centre’s worth to an original 138 motor.
The response of the members from this site was worth heaps with the general consensus stating a 3.08 is too tall and that the 3.36 centre is the one to go by. Luckily I had 3.36 out of a HR that I proceeded to get rebuilt and installed.
For those considering the change from the standard 3.89, the 3.36 is very good and gets the cruising highway revs down on the motor whilst still allowing the hill climbs although second gear is used allot more.
Points to watch for are:
the 3.36 are harder to get than 3.55’s
using the centre from the HR meant the uni-joint from the FB did not match the HR, so a HR uni-joint with U bolts needed to be used.

Devilrod,
That is the centre I ran with the grey and trimatic combo, and it works a treat! just remember to get the right speedo adaptor gear or your speedo will be miles (no pun intended) out
