MY first ek.......

Post by retro »

Well she aint much to look at, but at 19 i sorta learnt about rust work and paint pretty quick.

She was a 179 with trimatic, dragways, rod had field chasis, and disc brakes.

Came from beverly hills area, and when i bought it, i had no idea what an ek was, i was shopping for a fj, and this was listed as "make an offer" in the trading post. Paid $100 for her unregistered, changed the sills, boot and doors, new motor was fitted, quick paint job and she was ready for fun.

Most of the trick bits were already fitted, so it was a score even for parts value. Although at this time, $2000-3000 would of bought me a real smick stockie or ready to go modified.

It was sadly sold to accomodate work requirements of having a modern car, and if anyone knows where she now is id be happy to go see if i can get her back. It was sold to a chap at greenfield park who worked at seven hills, the car was his daily driver for a while, then he took out the motor to V8 it, and i have not seen it since.

I am still enjoying the first car. From what I can see, you fellas miss your old holdens that were your first cars, so I am going to hold onto mine :)

Dead right there    .

If I had my time again I would DEFINATELY keep my first car for the sake of nostalgia and I probably would have kept a few of my others as well ( 80837 HQ GTS 350 Coupe would be one)
I can't think what to write here so this will do.
