Rosco, you are right, I know. I'm glad the years have curbed my temprament as now I can walk away, have a few coldies, think about the problem at hand and worry about it tomorrow. Many years ago the car would have been gone by now.

windscreen problems
Mal, short of pulling out your windscreen, you could try putting small birthday candles in the corners of the screen on the outside and leave the car in the sun, a HK monaro leaked due to MR Nash.....This I did by accident and the screen never leaked again.

Hey Dan,
Hows the wagon going.
With the windscreen I pulled the rubber back and packed it full of black crap again. It was a bit light on in the corners so will take it for a drive in the rain again tomorrow to see if that worked.
Did a bit of playing around again today with the wipers. Ended up putting the wipers on a fuse by them selves as before I had them hooked up to a shared fuse. Also played around with the wiper arms and how they fitted to the shafts. Looks like I may have had a win there as when I went down town to get some more windscreen sealer it peed down raining and they worked a treat. Couldn't believe the difference. For old Holden wipers I was impressed. (finally)

Hey Mal, the auto is a real pain-in-the-arse at the moment, but don't let it get ya down...they'll probably find it's something silly like a adjustment out of line or the like. Had the same hassels with a powerglide in an HK Prem years ago the one advantage with yours is at least it 'aint a TWO SPEED!
And I think I can say that 90% of FB EK screens leak when it rains (am I right fellows?).

Inspiration
Mal, you have inspired me to get a lot of little things done, most bits that needed to be Zinc plated have been, (not 100% happy), front end is all painted and ready to go back together, I am just waiting for Bruce to get his but into gear, I have been on his back and he is getting the hint, he only has the body left to do and then paint the lot.
Well done on getting your car done, if you come tothe Bay let me know as I would love to have a gander.

Dan you should be going to Yamba to have a look, even though you don't have your car finished I'm sure it will be a good experience.
Sometimes I think I'd be better banging my head up against a brick wall than working on this car.
Someone may be able to explain this to me Yesterday I resealed the back corners of the front screen. No problems, cleaned up the excess, all nice and actually looking like it may seal. Done this type of job a hundred times before.
Today I open up the shed to find the windscreen with about a 9inch crack in it on the drivers side rear corner trying really hard not to swear
Tomorrow I'm off to Gympie again for them to have another go at the gearbox. Have decided that if its not fixed tomorrow I'm going to bring it home and start to get it cleaned up for Yamba and worry about the gearbox after that. Running out of time real quick now and theres still a shit load to do before Yamba. Windscreen man coming on tuesday

nothing I can say is going to help - maybe clean her up and try to enjoy - some bugs take a bit of time to fix.......... it seems to me at times to be pushing against a revolving door from the wrong direction - the harder you try - the more resistance you get - my advice - be a jelly fish for a while - "go with the flow" ........
Clan her up, as Mick says - 3rd is 1:1 - I need to know more of what parameters control the change to 4th.................

I am of the opinion that modern auto's need a number of signals to do certain things - very efficient and clever when working, but if one solitary thing is blocking the circuit, it doesn't happen.
We know what we have but unfortunately the tech people don't - perhaps there is a circuit somewhere in the loom or electronic box which is not being ustilised and is needed................ I'm speaking without one jot of understanding here, Malcolm.............. with modifieds, no one really understands what will and won't work until it's up and running........
Have you considered (and I'm sure you have) throwing up some questions on other model forums - I have seen EJ and EH vehicles which have done (I believe) a similar transplant and modification - just something to chase.
As for your window - hmmmm...... maybe the two are linked - the leak and the crack?
I have a chap down here who is a mobile windscreen fitter - he did my rear screen and will do my front - he knows his stuff and I watched him like a vulture when he did the rear to make sure he "pulled" the rubber in and put in enough butyl-mastic - he did.
I gave it the full force of the hose from every direction and not one drip - I told him I'm a member of a car club and was very impressed with his work - his words back to that were (don't tell anyone I do early Holdens - they are a pain in the aspidesperous.......doesn't want to do them, just did mine as a favour - used to be my neighbour and made the offer on day after I welded up one of his kid's toys).
I am very much looking forward to meeting you Malcolm. There won't be one vehicle there which doesn't have issues - in one way or another.
I am very much looking forward to you giving me the tour over the project............... it is very much a wonderful credit to your ability and patience. and....................... you made the time window with ease.
Kingaroy is not so far to trek down - you will be in excellent company and who know's, someone may give you another line of thought - this is one of the big pleasures I get - there's so much to take in, you often find "answers" appear just by looking over what others have done............
and you thought I had patience................... this has been testament to your tolerance and you've survived - you'll win, but it will probably tease yo here and there on occasions..................
Words of caution for those intending to move beyond the general's specification - when we modify, we virtually turn our backs on years and years of experience of designers,engineers, and consultants - not to mention the thousands of hours of testing and rectification/design change that goes into every new model................. modern technology has evolved but - do your research and get as much advice as you can before you take up the challenge.
Malcolm's issues are frustrating, and he clearly knows his stuff........... many vehicles end up in the "for sale" box beacause a dream often does not materialise........
Keep it rolling Malcolm - you can drive it, it looks schmick and it's very much a credit to your ability - you've still got a week - windscreen is probably a "must" the rest of it can wait...................

I took 3 years to build my race car and at the first race meeting its in the wall with the whole side taken out and yes a $500.00 windscreen cracked as well.
Ever tried buying a STUDEBAKER windscreen??????

Hey guys,
Windscreen is getting replaced on Thursday, nothing like cutting it fine.
Well the car never made it back to the transmission guys as the rain was just too heavy all day. So instead it went to the auto electricians today to get the wiring all checked out just for piece of mind and as that side of it goes, with the upgrading of 1 earth wire the wiring is all good so its back to the gearbox problem after Yamba.
So now its just cleaning, enjoying my holidays and looking forward to the weekend

hey mal i know its a lot of work but would it be worth chucking a differant box in it to see if the fault is in car wireing ect or in the box ,, mite be a way to isolate the problem ,,, it sounds electrical to me,,, but if somthings sus in the box then youd know

No not a stupid thought, the gearbox man said the same thing, its just that I don't have or know anyone who has a supercharged box laying around to try. Will worry about it later.
