Something i thought about a while ago..

Take the handle off.. and where that hole is for the rod to go through onto that plate inside the door that pops the door open.. Get a cylinder and a rod that'll fit inside it.. cut the hole out a little more and shave off the hole to the right for the other end of the handle.. so its all nice n smooth.. put the cylinder in with the rod and nice smooth button welded to the rod into the door and make it all nice.. I was thinkin perhaps somehow attach a spring with a tab or two on the rod so that the rod will sit a certian distance out from the cylinder.. you press it in and it only goes so far but enough to pop the door.. then springs back to the original position..

I suppose this is the same as those door buttons i think it mighta been Matty Martins got on his wagon if i'm remembering correctly..

Why don't you run a cable inside the tailgate and run that through to the outside somewhere hidden and use a lever design remote release.

i eventually will or put a solenoid on it
deadslead yeah that's pretty much what matty has smooth customs sells them as a kit for something like $50 a door
