Why???
I have noticed of late on here that people are choosing to go with 253's.....why choose this over a 308, arent they the same dimensions???
Is this for regulations in your state....just wondering as i am yet to decide what i would do!!!
Thats all!!!

Ive been on this site for awhile just looking and now im pulling her apart for a ground up rebuild have pics but there at the factory so will have to post them up.And yes its going to be a v8 ive got a 283 motor sitting round so its going in.quote]
Well if your going to be like that.......
Why do people choose them over the 308 as a general question..........maybe i'll get a response this time to my question not just bluntness???

I wouldn't think so Cam.camstuart52 wrote:Ooooppss so he his..............any benefits or draw backs to either?
Modifying an FB/EK to fit either would essentually be the same.
The benifits or drawbacks would only be avaliability of parts for both engines.
If you wanted a blown injected V8......don't go with the 253.
If you just want the burble of a V8......a 253 on gas could be a cheap alternative.
There's nothing wrong with either.
Cheers

not nessicerally ek61 we've found the holden V8 actually an easier fit we did try a chev in the ute before the holden V8
malcom once yor gearbox/computor is sorted with the price of petrol
i'm sure you'll be glad you went the V6
don't understand anybody useing a 253 over a 308 unless you have it there cost difference is minimal

What about a flathead v8, small, torquey, great rumble....camstuart52 wrote:What issues did you run into with the Chev engine ratbox???
I dont want massive power, but something thats still fun...with the rumble of a V8!!! So not really sure what would suit my needs!!!
"cept its a blue oval job....
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.
Have come across some cool 253 HQ's before. Over 13 years ago I worked at a car auction and two cars came to mind. One was a HQ kingswood sedan 253 3 speed column change venitian sunvisor we had it doing burnouts also we got a 253 4 speed HQ monaro coupe lime green drove it over to Sunnytims house one saturday about 6 FB EK owners were standing there at the time I made each one them take it for a drive and we were all sold on it mind you it was a genuine GTS with LSD.

Come and check out Greazefest 2010 AUG 1 Rocklea Showgrounds Qld
Im only useing it because i got it sitting otherwise i would be putting a vn motor in it by the time i get my motor rebuild and the rest of the parts i need it would cost the same as buying a donor car and taking the pieces out of it.This way you lower you costs at the start so the wife doesnt go ape s*$t thats all but in the long run you spend the same.
My mate give it to me because i did some welding for him :)he has a chev and is using a 350 in his so it was laying round.
