FB/EK Commodore

apart from the obvious i dont mind it
over all good concept and great workmanship
the way things are going this maybe
how we will have to build ek fb's in the future
they are getting a bit thin
on the ground

lately ive been looking at the new commodore ute's

and thinking how good they would look with a EH holden
front

grill lights apron bumper mmm

Well... I like the idea. Sort of reverse psychology.

When you think of how much effort went into it its got to be worth some credit.

Hey, anyone remember Chezoom from a few years back? was much the same idea only combining late model Chev Impala and '57 Chev.

i don't mind the idea but there is things i'de try differently, i prefer what DR did to the rear and would like the bottom of the window line in line with the tops of the guards
and along the lines of what smooth customs said i have a picture in my head already

instead of a wagon a delivery made from a wagon like (can't think of his name had an FJ. the wagon/delivery was paid for by sony) use the FB front (no great loss

) and tail lights
actually the wagon has basically been done a while back in the states '57 chev stuff put on a late impala wagon
it's funny how the people that have done this sort of thing appreciate it more

I can tell you all though: He's got the best heater demister set up anyone could want in the FB EK, including rear window demister.

And in hind site its a credit to the owner to create such a vehicle, for him to start a thought in his head and to actually build it from start to finish.
A lot more than I can say most people do.
It maybe not my cup of tea, but well done Mate:

DR has got the right idea, looks much better proportially, with the rear droped and front shortened, maybe could even come down slightly at the front.
I can live with the look that DR has done.

Very different car.

I just want to add one thing, It is probably a better car than most people on this forum, can pay someone else to build for them, let alone build your self.

so why hang crap on it?

There's plenty of things in this world that i dont like and cant under stand why they would do it. But hey, if everyone like the same thing it would be a boring world.

artistic................its the best vn commo ive seen since the things came out.

A retro fit grey motor and crash box would of been another impressive transformation.

It might have the potential to win the RIDDLER Award with its craftmanship and fit & finish......
but it seems a greater proportion of our members who have commented on it, just dont like the look of it

It just peoples opinion, and everyone is entilted to one.
we are not shooting it with balls of its own s#!t

Have you ever opened a car magazine, and thought, Oh, I dont like that.

Good on the builder for havin' a go

It seems he achieved what he set out to do.....attract attention to it......Mission Accomplished

I made a couple of phone calls today and found out a little more about this car.

The owner is not in the motor trade, making this build a great achievement.

The reason the front is a little long, was to comply with the engineers requirement for registration, that the Factory supports and bumper design was maintained to comply with the base vehicles ADR's for frontal impact.

Am trying to get some photos of the back end.

Guys,
My fingers are bleeding just looking at the body mods CHRIST !
I do like the retro look but I think the top of the door lines are what upsets the balance here.
Yep I do believe this is the future in customising cars cause there just isnt any old cars left to grab hold of for a good price or condition.

Oh well maybe I'll save up and make new FB/EK bodies! Any investors around?

well it seems this car has attracted a lot of attention on here. This is the only other photo i managed to get last weekend. The owner told me his car will be on display at the Morayfield shopping centre next week, advertising the show and shine on the 1:06:08 at the caboolture showgrounds. I wasn't able to get any photos of the rear, because of the sun and the fact i didn't have my proper camera equipment with me....these were taken on my phone camera. I will try and get a few more shots next week (shopping centre) and then head out to the show and shine where i will be taking plenty of photos. Since my last post, there has been quite a few replies (some good....and some not so good) i will mention to the owner of this car to check out this forum and hope he joins and can chat with you about what he has done here. I have a fond place in my heart for the FB/EK. Thats what drew my attention to his car. I once owned an FB Ute (will drag out the photos and post ...when i find them).

it was mentioned somewhere in here that these were photoshopped and i'm probably a computer whizz......nope ...don't think so. I am a part time photographer and full time fitter and turner and drive a carolla station wagon. When i catch up with the man that built this car i will be asking him if he wouldn't mind doing a photo shoot around the lakes in caboolture.

another thing most are saying he wrecked an EK look, at it more this way he fixed a commodore

I'm the same Ratbox.. its also THE best commondore I have ever seen...and I really hate 'em....

If he's not in the auto trade, he bloody well should be!!!! The bodywork to do this is unbelievable and the fact its complianced, well that seals it. He know's what he's doing. And its good to know why things look the way they do, although I would hate to see how they tested for the frontal impact

Would be good to see more of it.

i think its great.

someone can think outside the square and have a very useable car as a result.

any of us can rebuild an old holden, but very few can modify like this car has been .

Like it or not - excellent achievement.

Just for interest = how often does a pic of a car taken in a carpark, generate 3 pages of comments without the owner contributing at all ?
