It only comes out IN the rubber- if you try and pull it out with the screen still in the car you will wreck both the stainless and the rubber.
If it HAS to come out you will need to pull the screen out.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Windshield removal - From service manual.

Post by strogger »

This is verbatim from service text, Never done it personally..

1. Place protective covering over the front or the vehicle and instrument panel adjacent to the front of the windsheild.

2. Remove windshield wiper are assemblies, internal rear vision mirror assembly and sun-visors.

3. Remove the two reveal moulding attaching screws located at the rear lower corner of the windsheild and the two (2) screws attaching the upper coners of the moulding.

4. From inside the body ease the retaining lip of the weatherstrip across the top edge and down sides of wearhershield opening with a putty knife of thin bladed tool.

5. Commencing at the upper corner, press the glass outward with the palm of the hand, simultaneously easing the lip of the rubber over the metal flange of the body.

6. When the upper and side lip of the rubber is free from the flange, with the aid of an assistant lift the windshield assembly out and place on a protected bench to prevent scratching.

7. Remove the reveal mouldings from the weatherstrip and the weatherstrip from the blass.

8. Dont drop glass

Guys,
I have removed several screens and it has always been very simple. This is with tuffened screens only as laminated ones need to be cut out destroying the rubber!
As strogger says but what I have done is to get inside the car and push gently but firmly at the top of the glass with my feet ( make sure you have some foot protection that wont scratch the glass). Working from each end push a liitle more each time until the seal pops from the lip.
Once it pops it will come out very easy.

Are we talking front or back windscreen?

For the back one i just pushed some of the rubber in the lower corner into the car with a screwdriver until i had enough to grab onto.. then just pulled it all in until the screen popped out. Was pretty easy once we got going.

Also WD40 all over it seems to help. Spray it a few times and let it sink in.
Nick.
