Nat’s diary 2025

Righto, time for another update - been doing some miles the last couple of days - left Coffin Bay on Sunday morning, first stop was south of Elliston - a little sign said there was a lookout so we went up and found this

Elliston was a surprise, wasn’t expecting much to be honest but it is a great little spot. Image

We had been to Port Kenny previously and wasn’t even going to stop but the pub was open ImageImageImage
The publican is a West Aussie gal and she said we needed to go down the road and catch up with Eugene “ he is doing up an old car like yours”

Spent about 45 minutes there talking rubbish with him then off to Streaky Bay

Last time we were sitting here it was with Stoney and Neil Firekraka and it was his birthday- I sent him the pics above and said thinking of you mate and it was his birthday that day !!!

That’s monuments. Sick slab wave I don’t have the balls for. It’s a great drive alright. Since the 70’s surfers have populated Elliston and streaky and many of them are “artists”. Had some fun times in the beer garden with live bands at Kenny pub. Didn’t Dhilba for fresh bread at Coulton?

No Clay, no bread on a Sunday 😟

Wandered up to the pub for dinner on Sunday night in Streaky Bay - it was going off !!! They were making a hell of a racket 😂👍
Total km for the day was about 280 - no odometer since the speedo stopped working in Wagga Wagga

Monday we were off to get some miles done, couldn’t resist a equivocal diversion into Smoky Bay though for a quick looksee
Not a bad spot, no pub Image
Massive wrecking yard though Image
Saw lots of this -

Image
Headed off to Penong, fuel and breakfast at the windmill museum and caught up with a few Shitbox Rally participants who were on their way to Perth for the start of a rally from Perth to Darwin. Next stop was Nullarbor roadhouse, fuel at Penong, Nundroo and Yalata all around $1.75 a litre - Nullarbor was $2.67 !!!
Image
On we go, next one is border village- fuel was about 20c a litre cheaper 10km away at Eucla - we were making good time so we snuck down to the old Telegraph station for a look and a stretch

Of course the dickheads have had to graffiti it …..ImageImageImageImageImage

Into Mundrabilla for the night, about 685km all up , time for a beer a wash and a feed in that order Image

Thought I would spare you a pic of the wash bitImage
Steaks here are ridiculously tasty, station bred beef carefully killed and sent back then cooked to perfection by an actual chef ImageImageImage $30 !!!!
Had rather a few beers here - probably a couple more than I should have but there was an interesting mix of people in the bar and the conversation was very interesting

Nat’s diary 2025

Up early and off just after 7 , lots of ground to cover today , knocked out a couple of hundred Kay’s then pulled up At Cocklebiddy for fuel and breakfast
Looked at the eagles then hit the road , some plonker in a semi trailer took the awning out months ago, still waiting for a new one
Image

Next stop Caiguna for the obligatory photo - trip #6 for the ute

Image
Quick snap then off to Balladonia
Image
Image
Image
Image

Off again and into Norseman, went to the pub for lunch but they don’t do lunch anymore- FIFO has buggered another town ….. ImageImage
Image
Grabbed a sandwich across the road and kept going
Salmon Gums was the next spot for a beer - that pub was shut and for sale ImageImageImage

Image
Image
Don’t know if the ute is part of the deal

Third time lucky, Gibson Soak delivers the goods Image
Image
Image
Image

Spotted a great looking 80 series in the carpark
Image
Image
Image
Then a quick blast into Esperance for the night
Image

Gave the ute a bath and called it a day - well overdue for a wash , it will be filthy again tomorrow as it’s forecast to rain
Image
Image

Total for the day about 850km

New motor must be well run in by now. 3.55:1 gears? Safe travels folks. I wanted to stop at that soak pub last year on the way over.

Greg
I bloody well hope not - it hasn’t used a drop of oil or water since we did the change at Craig Allardyce’s place and they would have to be 5000 Kay’s ago by now at a guess 🤔
