Hey RB,
If you are confident with using a spray gun its not hard, you just have to cut your flow back a bit. Mind you not all 2 pack is the same. PPG is like spraying water, if you put it on to wet it will run off.
I used Spies Hecker for a while and that stuff was like spraying putty. It was as thick as shit and you couldn't get it to run.
When you paint in your shed and get shit in it, just denib it first thing the next day and buff it while its still fresh. That way its nice and easy to buff but you may have to buff it again when its totally cured.
What ever you do, get a good mask and wear overalls. Other wise this shit will make you so sick you'll wish you were dead.
Cheers

yeah i'm guessing it was beginners luck i used to be fairly good spraying enamal so i guess that helped
i've just been edgeing out and doing the firewall and bits and peices on a mates C20, after i did those bits it came out so good that i did the roof which i was also very happy with
the paint he gave me was Upoll and was sorta like you said wouldn't run if you wanted it to
i know it's not good for you hence the bugs there was no way i was doing it in the shed out in the open with plenty of fresh air

Rat DO NOT USE THIS WITHOUT A MASK APPROVED FOR IT .
It is evil shit mate and has hundreds of permanent effects .
A mate of mine did three cars without a mask years ago and he is basically a hermit right now because his nerve endings are being eaten which causes his legs to drop out from under him at any uncompromising moment .
I hate safety gear like the next guy and I have no guards on my grinders but this paint aint your friend .

Not just a mask
Look at painters in booths, full face shield air fed masks and proper paint overalls with plasic gloves.
This shit just dosnt go into your lungs it is absorbed into your blood system as well through the pours of your skin!
And once in there it dosnt leave.
Harko is correct about what it can do, and more.
Painters in some states have to submit to blood and lung testing every year to see if and what levels they have absorbed.
Read the labels on everything you use on your car as the contents in some product can KILL. And they are not all paint materials.
The manufacturers put it there as a warning and to save them from prosecution from people not adhearing to the proper metod of usage.
I have worked in the motor trade all my life and have seen several guys die from ignorance of the materials they used and the attitude that it was all hype about the safety requirements.
Remember if you use these materials at home, you are exposing your family and the people around you to toxic chemicals

hmm
i'm with your on this rat box ..
i think there is a bit of hype over 2 pac .. maybe they have improved of the years but todays paint dont seem to be that bad taking the same precautions one would this any spray paint ..
sure the best option is a spray booth but not all of us have spray booth available ..
attached is the data sheet for concept paints found in autobarns etc
it maybe a little hard to read // www.conceptpaints.com.au if u want to check it out more

for those lot lazy to check it out .. organic respirator, pvc clothing and goggles ..
the same as u would wear for spraying acrylic .. hmm in fact in younger silly days i wore nothing .. but i guess limited exposer was the savour there ..
so btm line limit vapour .. maybe a make shift spray booth like mel used .. respirator and protective clothing ..
so areas may have spray booth 4 hire .. if your car is transportable ..
any way im sure this will start a little debate ?

Many many moons ago when I used to spray acrylic, I very rarely used any sort of protective clothing, masks ect. But I was told acrylic will pass through your system unlike 2 pack that stays in the system and continues to build until it kills you.
Before I started painting my car, I went to a safety clothing shop and told them what I was doing, they then supplied me with the correct mask to do the job. But they did say the best option is a air fed mask.
I'm lucky as I live on a semi rural block on the side of a hill and with being on a hill we always have a good breeze that gives me good flow through on my make shift booth.
I wouldn't even consider painting 2 pack in the shed if I lived in town with neighbours breathing down my neck.

i know it's dangerous stuff don't get me wrong, i used to sell it got told a horror story about some of the first 2 pak's, the air force were trying it out using no safety gear all the guys involved died not long after with lung cancer
it's not a long term thing just edgeing out some pannels, and like you malcom i'm rural so no neighbours to worry my pretty little head over (or abuse cause they don't like what i'm doing)
i'm never gunna die anyway (only the good die young) and i wouldn't care if i fell off the perch tomorrow
my only regret would be my family
