Harv's FED thread

I suppose you already have a billet crank from Galloway. Would they do one with a red motor flange? With the red 225 stroker cranks, I believe they weld a red motor flange on the &*#@ crank.

I live in Western Sydney… a .22 would be seriously under-armed

Patience is a virtue.

One tyre balanced OK, one tyre wants 800g of weight. M/T warrantied the bad tyre ("tyre number one").

Replacement tyre (tyre number two) wanted a similar amount of weight. M/T warrantied that one too.

Tyre number three wanted 700g too. They warrantied that one.

Tyre number four balanced within reason.

Lots of soul searching, discussion with various seasoned racers and tyre techs. Can't see anything wrong from my end. Rims balance within reason. Balancing process is reasonable. Google says that M/T may have a quality problem, with up to 50% rejection rate on balancing in some US states. Could be rubbish, but sure matches what I saw.

The EKMart block and Repco head didn't make it home for Christmas. Spoke to Galloway this week, aiming for end-January in my hands. Fingers crossed. Would like to make Day of the Drags in March, but it will be a stretch.

Nothing like a tight deadline.

HSD have had my engine for over 12 months. Most of that has been waiting on Galloway and SPS according to them. I haven’t really been in a rush but FOMO from all the nostalgia events gaining momentum again is a bummer.

I’m hoping i can ran at bangers and mash with the “A” motor but would be tempted to sort out an ignition system and clutch for the “B” motor and come down to day of the drags if you think you’ll debut the car there.

HSD, SPS and Galloway... now that sounds familiar :). Takes a while to get stuff through that trio, though from what I have seen their work is spot-on.

Being realistic, I reckon I've got mebbe a 10% chance of making DotD. The lineup of busted kids cars in my driveway isn't getting any shorter. It gives me something to aim for though.

Minor delay on getting the EKMart block back from Galloway. Plan had been to dowel the head to the block, so that the wire o-rings above each cylinder line up with their receiver grooves. Intention was to drill out one of the block bolt holes 5mm or so (and a similar hole in the head), and use a short piece of pipe/tube for the dowel. On reflection, it's probably not a good idea to reduce the number of threads in the block, even by a couple of threads.

Plan B is use a normal type dowel somewhere in the head with enough meat to receive it. That means the head gaskets now need another hole. Galloway have the used head gasket that came with the head/block, but not the final copper one. Three copper head gaskets packaged up again and shipped over to WA to get drilled to suit the dowel hole. Getting closer.
