FB ute
Re: FB ute
Soooo…….. check again this morning and the oil pump is still locked up SOLID , won’t move either way even using considerable force with a big screwdriver so- out it comes
Had a few hands helping as today was our spanner day
Got it out , drained the oil and the bloody pump freed itself up so we tested it again and it was pumping fine - figured seeing as it’s out may as well get it checked so off came the sump and out came the pump

Re: FB ute
That explains where all the smoke was coming from. Just explain the 8 litres per 100km oil use now. Maybe it is all compressed inside that oil pump.

Re: FB ute
Got the oil pump back today, Johnny found the drama - when some hamfisted electrician used the (home made) oil pump priming tool he managed to chip a little bit of oil pump driver tang off which subsequently found its way between the top of the oil pump drive shaft and the housing of the oil pump - causing said oil pump to lock up.
Solution- strip oil pump , linish shaft, linish oil pump housing and reassemble
Is now ready to go back in the donk and throw it back in the hole.

Re: FB ute
Damn straight - lucky the shard was still in the top of the pump and hadn't made its way into the pump or engine.EK283 wrote: Tue Nov 26, 2024 8:22 pm Damn lucky !

No oil filter - the way the bloody thing leaks it never has a chance to get dirty ...... maybe now it will , time will tell.
