Yes Neil. Might close the gap up on the plugs, currently 0.060”.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Found the problem I think.
Original EK inlet non-return valve finally failed. I found a couple of NOS ones, complete with tiny gaskets, amongst my stash. The pump too was an original EK one whereas the bottom is a NOS Goss replacement part. Should be a good unit now.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
I came up with a grand plan to modify my washer nozzle setup to the modern EK style one.
I got this one from local MG restoration supplier.
In the process however I discovered that the eBay T piece I used had a substantial blockage.
I had already marked the bonnet 8” forward from the back edge, ready to drill. I will have to give the primitive but far more elegant FB ones another shot. I do have one off the Cobar HT, but it is a bit tatty, being chromed plastic.

That eBay tee-piece looks suspiciously like a Bunnings drip-watering system tee.

I didn’t think of that, doh….
Anyway they work pretty well now. I’m very tempted to angle them over the roof so I can shower tailgaters.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
With the fuel and squirters sorted, I finally found the elusive squeak.
VH40 inlet and outlet pipes were just touching.
Bent away from each other and no more squeak.
Went on a club run last weekend to view the Bay to Birdwood, and an observation run with the local All Makes Historic Car Club today, and still got some pinging down low. Backed off another degree by feel. I can turn the dis without loosening, so it could be creeping I suppose. I will put the gun on it and retention before next spurt.
Outside passenger door handle needs free ing up, and the newish muffler has cracked around the outlet. I may have pre-loaded it with my driveline shenanigans. Otherwise the car is pretty pleasing to drive, particularly on the highway when it stretches its long legs.

I heard the distinctive squeak as I was working on something else in the engine bay and realised what it was coming from.

Friday cards night at Littlehampton overnight then Model T Clubrooms opening. Running like a dream through hills freeway and Saturday morning city traffic. Bit of a flat spot noticed off the mark. Out to Richard’s to get the papers for Elle’s new car, and getting fuel starvation symptoms again.
Luckily I’m at Richard’s place, or so I thought.
After trying two or three of his spares I ended up combining my base with one of his tops and back on the go.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Nearly made it home. I was edging up on the inside of an MX5, pulling from low down in top heading up Victor Harbor Road out of the Onkaparinga Valley, when it just died. Fuel is pumping and dissy is turning but I think the coil just died. Makes me wonder about all the “fuel” problems I’ve been having lately, wtf!?
