Brake pedal sorted. I should have unbolted the master from the firewall at the outset. Glovebox sorted. Running sweet at 11degrees initial. Stopped pinging for now.

See if I can get it to run at 82C by blocking off some radiator.Image

Good point, Stephen. My passenger will serve as the cup holder. I've got Fillipe from Ceduna to Bunbury, the Elle for the rest.

82C thermostat Greg. STD 186 bore in a 179, with 3 core HR radiator. Usually runs cold.

Full throttle run up main Willunga hill road, 110kh all the way up. Temperature got to 86 and seemed to level off. Took a while to come back down to around 75, coasting down the old road. Ambient is around 12, so cut the blank down a bit more and will see how it goes.

They failed the driveway test... Image
I don't know........Image
They will need to be cut down if they stay. May just have to go to the ball naked.

I would like to put them on my ute but then you cant put them on a 2 post hoist ....
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

I ended up deleting them.

I’m carrying two 14x6 reverse stocky as my spares. They will work front or back. So in the remote event that I get a fat on the trip, I can swap both to the affected axle and carry on regardless.

Also carrying spare axle, alternator, coil, distributor, fuel pump, leads, hoses, fan belt and water pump. My mate is a good talker. He talked me in to it. Doesn’t weigh much.

Suffice to say that my dodgy isolation switch installed led to failure of the switch.Imagebushing on the back was poorly insulated and arced a hole in the firewall and melting the switch body enough to create an air gap.

So I decided to mount the new switch through the firewall under the parcel tray, where it won't be noticed or knocked, but is esily accesible.Image
It looks easy to bypass under the bonnet, but the filter will hide it.Image

I patched the hole in the firewall in Esperance when it failed, with RTV gasket maker and rubber patch. Revisiting today, it looks to remain effective. The hole is right next to the rear choke lever. When next the carbs come off, I will tap the area in for more clearence, and weld up the hole.

The isolation switch reinstallation is completed, and I am happy with how it came out.ImageImage
