Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Happy days! I tested the economy on the run to Dudley's auction. 24.9mpg, however with the smaller wheels I've actually travelled less than the 216 miles I recorded. Even allowing 10% though it is still better than I've recorded so far.
When I got home, I ripped off the manifolds and found this:The exhaust manifold has been leaking like a sieve. I put on a new Permaseal EM01 gasket with plenty of JB Weld Ultimate Copper RTV sealant. This time I detached the X2 manifolds from the engine pipes, re-worked the stud washers to get them more square (nod to Drew), and replaced the flange gaskets.
Changed to the tall steel rims, ready for another run, this time down to the shack at Pondalowie Bay.Went for a test run and all good. No more tick tick....

Yes, I have also found that you have to put the headers on first and then attach the pipes to ensure the headers to sit properly against the head.

Just me bring lazy Brett. This Warnerford Design manifold really is a bit of a compromise. While it minimised my firewall mods, the curved runners make things a bit tricky. But then I suppose triples will always be tricky.

I'm reassured about the fuel economy for the run to Bumbuddy now. I got 26mpg on the run from Willunga to Marion Bay. 41 litres in 380 km. That is nearly 400k for 43 litre tank, which is the benchmark I set coming from Wagga, via Hay, to Balranald, with the single stromberg and low comp head.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
about the longest you would NEED to go between fuel stops is 250km so I think you might just scrape in ......
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Clay if you are looking for really good headlights then have a look at Bangin Headlights on the web the guy is a local sandgroper, his lights don’t need relays or anything and straight swap over, I think they are $400 for two.
They had a booth at the car show our club went to recently apparently the guy took them to SEMA, anyway I’m going to get Franks changed shortly.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
I'm happy with the fuel consumption from the triples now, averaging 24.5 mpg over the last 800 miles. Reliably 22mpg urban and 25mpg highway 110kmh. I had to fill with 91 yesterday, being all that was available at Warooka, and there was pinging when overtaking around 2000 - 3000rpm. So I will reinstall the VK EFI distributor, which I have thoroughly cleaned and shimmed to eliminate any lash, as well as reinstalling the module with fresh silicone grease for heat transfer.

Tough gig Clay Have you upgraded the headlight candles as they seem to light up the road ahead nicely

Just halogen globes from Anthony Pearson, classic and vintage bulbs, at Blackwood, in original Bosch lenses Stephen. Low beam as shown, is good, but high is ordinary.
