Ammo's Ute

These bloody wheels are giving me the s%#t.
Powder coaters have limited colours and me crash repair painter told me cost would very high as the wheels will need to be scruffed / hand sanded.
So what to do.
Do it your self I hear.
Lots of research on the internet with most doing 2K. I will probably use enamel for ease of use and I can do it in the shed.

It was so strange rubbing off the shiny surface when most times we are doing the opposite to get shine.
All done with old 320 grit and I think my fingers are a little shorter now.
Chased around looking for VHT wheel paint without any luck but I was direct to a company, Paint Tech in Windsor Gardens.
These guys could not help me enough. Searched through several colour catalogue until we found a match.
There is 10 different colours in the mix, which is surprising for a dark grey.

I have 3 cans of 2K colour, a can of primer amd a can of clear.
Just need a warm day now.

Nice one Roger,

A warm day and a charcoal mask, the paint will cure inside your lungs and never be expelled, be carefull.

Prime let dry then smooth with a scuff pad, apply your colour till it flashes off then apply the clear. This is what i have been taught to do.

I changed the filters in the mask first up.
Followed the advise from the paint shop and now I have 2 front wheels that match the rears.
I decided to paint outside of the shed but had to hang some sheets to block the breeze.

Purchased a fender roller as the 15 x 6" with 185 tyres, still rub.

With a little care I rolled the inner lip and now the ute sits on 4 wheel at the " final " height.

I did have to trim to inner lip as there is a double lip that would not move.
Happy with it.

I had a wheel rub over the Nats weekend, it was when at full lock and on a bump, you may want to check that as well.
