Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Yes, oh wise one.
Always wondered about these holes in the tonneu.I've decided I won't put the canopy on for the big drive west. It is never going to be very watertight and I will probably limit its use to summer.I have started a rough restoration on it stripping hardware, repairing and cleaning up inside.
Apart from a lube and oil change, and a wheel swap back to the steelies, Larry is ready to rumble. I'm going to try and focus on the van.

Yes, I was warned but didn't listen. Well crisis averted at least. Chasing a Malpassi regulator.I could have picked a worse place to break down, like the Nullarbor......

Thanks Glen.It was you that told me I don't need it with the mechanical pump. The RAA bloke was Michael with the blue FE ute from Vale cnc. He said shouldn't need a reg. Can't find a receipt for it soi guess it's an expensive paper weight.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
I couldn't put up with the deafening sound of crickets on here any longer.
Ive decided the noise I thought sounded like rockers is a slight exhaust leak between the head face and manifold. There is carbon build-up evident above the manifold on the painted head surface. I will try and retention the studs before I get too carried away, but I'm going away to Whyalla working for the next few days.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Forum is very quiet lately. All looks and not much discussion.
I ran 2inch tripple SUs on my torrie in the 80's and didnt even know about regulators with no trouble at all. I guess it's a bit of pot luck though cause if your fuel pump is energetic and pumping 7 or more psi it's likely going to end in tears. I might just have been lucky. The Malpassi filter regulator is a great unit that sits right on the required/selected pressure all the time. I'm running 3psi on the 150 strombergs and 6 on the WW.
Looking forward to seeing some more progress on the van.

Buy a tube of Stag, and leave it on the radiator support panel overnight. Just the threat of using it should be enough to make the gasket tighten upErrol62 wrote: Fri Mar 22, 2024 5:27 pm I couldn't put up with the deafening sound of crickets on here any longer.

The bolt holding the pressed washer looks crooked, you need to take more off the inlet manifold side so it sits flat, that way the load is equal on the gasket.
I spent hours making cutom ones out of round tube to suit the different height between the headers and manifold on my six many moons ago, it was the only way i stopped the leaking.
