Most people dont realise that high pressure fuel return is not allowed in the boot space and does not comply with the Engineering process.
Agree that it is good practice not to run the pump or lines (supply line is worse pressure than the return) inside the boot. Not sure it is non-compliant though. NCOP appears to be silent on the issue, other than requiring the filler/cap to be outside (or inside but sealed from the passenger compartment).
The top-mount pump carriers shown above are pretty common, and little different to my daughter's 2009 Camry (tank, pump and return lines all mounted under the rear seat, barely mastic-sealed cover over them).

I was surprised as well, our engineer, you know the one made me remove mine from inside the boot. I didnt argue and figured i was never going to win anyway !
With the Camry is it under the floor below the seat or in the cabin space ?
After seeing how much fuel can get pumped from 60psi of pressure, im glad the engineer made me remove what i thought was safe.
The Camry fuel tank is inside the cabin. From memory, it's two bolts then the rear seat squab lifts out. The tank has a thin sheet steel cover over it, with some mastic. It's more there to keep you from damaging the tank fittings than anything - the mastic holding it in place is not a seal, and lifts off easily. Once that cover is off, you are staring at the tank top. There is a plastic lid with an o-ring seal (about 8" diameter) that seals to the tank top. That lid has the pump, supply and return lines just like the fancy black aluminium one above, but with push-on fuel fittings.
I've got a black ally one for the son's VL upgrade, in a Brown drop tank. Might have to seal it off from the boot with some sheetmetal to satisfy the engineer.

Battery tray mounted, fuel cap and filler sorted but need to do a breather, now to mount the radiator overflow tank and fabricate up a washer bottle tank.
Also fitted new door hinge pins and bushes.
So, back at it and have fabbed up the air filter housing, there was not way I was going to stick a pod filter on it.
Once finished it will hopefully look as it was fitted
