Got to step up and over the hoist platform which sits about a foot an a half off the ground (gearbox,steering column, and other odds and ends are under it). Once in the middle back on the floor I’m fine but forget what’s above when I step back out! Might wrap something around the sharpest bits to at least cushion the blow.

Or move it.

Reminds me of a joke. What’s the difference between a drummer and a drum machine.....
You only have to punch the information into the drum machine once.

I’ll remember to duck eventually.

Scott you are doing a great job considering the lack of room.

I hate to say it but even if you get more room you tend to fill it up with more stuff !!

I'm going through all my collection at the moment trying to downsize and feel free again.

Been good shed weather so got out the wire wheels, strip disk, dremmel with die grinder and power file
Rust not as bad as the other side. Figured I should try and save the piece behind the rust, so some brute force……


…revealed good metal

Cut (out the rust) and polish (with the wire wheel)

Time to get crafty

Bit of shaping and filling of the new metal, some hammer and dolly work to straighten out my ham fisted use of a cold chisel, deoxidine, and copper weld through.


Welded it all up
Side note. Sub frame, hanging over head has reveal 3 pin holes which I can now see with the light above it. As I was welding….. buttoned up the first two and then blew a hole in the third. Which grew to a 10cm hole at which point I called it a day. Win some…..

That’s a POS super cheap chisel, perfect for soft rusty metal. It’s absolutely top quality though when compared to my eBay hammer and dolly set!

Yeah I’m a bit OCD with this. Only hope the high humidity (92% today) doesn’t bite me on the arse. Sprayed it with easyphos as I went. Fingers crossed.

Then decided a trial fit of the sub frame was in order. Not expecting it to fit. But dared to hope.

Passenger side is close but drivers side needs some work. The area where the firewall meets the floor is the problem. There is the original drain and bend on the passenger side, but my crafty replacement on the driver side does not have the drain or bend.
