Yes, apart from being a nice fellow he's a very skilled dude too. Just checked with him a minute ago and he hasn't started on the battery hold down bars, this curved section or the rear quarter inners he was going to start selling. Too busy making his existing stuff.

If I could get hold of the part I would. It is a reasonably complex shape as I know from the one I did in the van. Think I will do it in separate pieces for each side and the bottom.

Came across Sasha Stark a few years ago when he started making the inner A-pillar pieces. Just wish he had a web site rather than Facebook, though I see he is supplying kingswood country lately.

Fu¿king great fun trying to weld and dress under the car. 1.2mm zincaneal. I left an opening in the inner sill so I can hopefully get my fisholene hose in there through the drain hole. Will zip it up tomorrow. Happy Friday all.ImageImageImage

9C in the shed this afternoon, and minor flooding. Perfect conditions for lying under the ute welding and grinding.

Couple more hours dressing the welds and some schutz should do the job. ImageImageImageImage

Hi Stephen. Yes, except that I mailed my log book off to the registrar for my local All Makes Historic Car Club, the minute I was released from self isolation, and haven’t got it back yet! So can’t legally drive it. Did get a sneaky back roads test drive in yesterday evening and all going well. Just need to address front wheel offset and I can get it over the pits.

Still need to sort the radio but thanks to admin Jason I have a spare one to swap out until I get replacement switch from Greg Bell.

Decided to stick with the Grafton crash box for now. Still crunching in to third a bit but manageable with patient shifting. Fiddled with linkages and replaced engine mount bolt and yet to jump out of top again, although I haven’t had it up to highway speed yet.

I decided to stick with the VH44 booster for now as I’ve got used to the brakes, and they are pretty good really. Mainly though, I just hate dealing with hydraulics.

Hope to get it down to FB EK registration day when it happens, and maybe a trip out to dud’s soon.

Well Rafferty took me for a spin in the ute on his L’s this arvo. Did a few highway kms 100kmh and didn’t pop out of gear so here’s hoping.

Still a very noticeable oil leak which appears to be from fuel pump to block mounting face. I was a bit hasty in slapping it back together last time, so picked up a new gasket and some decent oil resistant form-a-gasket. Job for the weekend. Always takes me three gos to get things right.

Clay,

A couple of thoughts -

Jumping out of top gear first. The "Accelerator" magazine has this procedure:
Remove (and replace) the gearbox-to-engine bolts one at a time. If they show any signs of stiffness or binding, enlarge the bolt holes in the bellhousing until the bolts run freely.

Oil leaks at the fuel pump: if the bolts have been over-tightened, the mounting flange will be distorted. Check with a straight edge held vertically across each bolt hole. You've had practice at removing the pump rocker - you may need to do so again. File the mounting flange flat.

(I had this problem a few years back. Stripped the pump down, took it to work, asked one of the workshop guys if he could mill the face flat. He clamped the body in a vice, and delivered a few strokes with a file. Job done.)
