Brett,

FBs have no rubber bush in the gearbox shifter lever, but EKs do.

I used a section of plastic hose over the end of the shift rod, for a tight fit in the hole in the gearbox lever. I notice there’re different size holes in the various levers on gearboxes I have. I think do hat ever is necessary to remove play.

Started her up and the wipers came on. Then the drivers door handle came off.

Just old car syndrome. Fix one thing and another breaks. I take it as a good sign. I fixed it so just waiting to see what's next. I still have a few things on the list. The radio, rust in spring hanger and front tyres rubbing.

Got on to a replacement on off volume and tone switch from Qld club president Greg Bell. Knows his radios does Greg. Also got another radio for the van so that may go in meantime.

Need to gather a few bills to sort the rubbing so will have to wait. Next job is the rust repair.

Clay,

Now that you can move around freely (I wish!), might it not be an idea to wander up to that legendary paddock full of cars in the Barossa (or is it the Clare Valley), and cut the box section complete out of a donor shell?

I don't envy you. You'll be flat on your back with a welder, trying not to set fire to the car.

Did find I had filled in one hole Blacky and I guess the road shook the rest loose.

I'll check rares Sam. Didn't know that but was thinking of the number of times I have repaired these and that they should be reproducing them.

Rob I doubt I would find one out there that didn't have any rust in it.

Don't think Rares make em Clay. Sascha Stark had one of mine to make a template. I'll chase him up and see what happened.
The clever way you have cut that means the you have plenty to work with if you make the pieces yourself (which I know you will cause you like doing that stuff🙂).
I made the sections to fabricate these pretty easily. Can take a photo of them if it helps.
