When I was a lad a mate had an EH wagon used to jump out of top. This was the remedy. 200km later, no issues.Image

You don’t think I’d take a photo while driving now Jason?
Especially when driving in a big (or small) circle ........

Early start and didn't bother to fuel. Bonnet was stuck last time I tried it so didn't check oil or not importantly, turn on the heater.

Clear sky after heavy showers overnight. I really didn't think I would make it to Balranald without running out of fuel, but I did.ImageImage

9.45 gallons. There wasn't much left that's for sure. 244miles. 26mpg or 11 litres per 100km. Time put hammer down. Nearly home.

Back home sitting in the driveway while the family relocates. Wife Elle has rented a place down by the beach for two weeks so I can comfortably self isolate at home. It’s hard not being able to with them but this is as good option as I could have expected.

The little 179 is willing as and punted me home at the speed limit, passing many a more modern car. The Mallee Highway is one of my favourites. It’s quiet, smooth, with long straights and plenty of nice 100kmh sweepers. Plenty of spots to pull over and camp.

Gearbox is still jumping out of top at speed and may well be related to the left rear engine mount having one shorn off bolt. Tomorrow I will completely empty the car out and take out the floor mat. There will be water on the cab and rear floors. Engine will come out to fix the oil leak, and might try another of my boxes, prior to building one up. Wiring loom is on the agenda too.

Better get cracking, it is only 346 sleeps to the nats at Nuri (ootpapa).

Good stuff Clay
A great read of your travels and glad there weren’t too many issues that you couldn’t fix 👍

Thanks fellas. Looking forward to next year for sure. Some work to be done meantime. I’m content to knuckle down now I’ve got that trip under my belt.
