186 head I have the boys failed crack test. Luckily they pulled one from stock but are now ordering springs to suit my cam. Pistons and rods are being balanced (still). Early next week apparently.
New shocks are more discreet.

I'm giving them the 179 head from the HP motor to replace their stock.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Picked up block and crank today. Fitted Welch plugs and crank gear. I will go back tomorrow and get the piston and rod assemblies and flywheel, which was balanced but not machined yet for larger clutch. Looks like I'm going to make it......
There was a mix up with the head as they pulled a 202 one from stock and did up. I originally gave them a worked 202 one which they didn't like, hence the confusion. Anyway they will do me a 186 using the valves, collets and springs from the 202 they did. I will be able to assemble the bottom end and hopefully get the head by the weekend.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
I didn’t use it on the last engine I did bearings on Greg. Open to advice. Crank has been ground 10/10. Do I recall something about filing down the ends of the shells to obtain 0.0025”?
Builder recommended to reuse rod bolts also.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Don't file the ends of the bearing shells. Use them as they are. Clearances are usually 0.0015" - 0.003" for both mains and big ends. If you want to, assemble the crank in the block without the rear main bearing oil seal and check that it spins freely. If yes, then you're good to install the rear main seal.
