Thanks you two.

Hadn't thought too much about balancer and was just going to reuse this. Reckon it may leak a bit? Rhetorical question.

Wondering if I should look for something fancy, or just grab one off the shelf at Car Parts Plus.Image

The fancy ones that Ross make are good, bit over tight on the crank, and need the fan blades notched. The Powerbond ones have mixed reviews. Have not tried a Dayco one.

Thanks guys, was thinking ross. Wonder if I could press it on. Put the whole block in the press.

Glen,
Dynotech CM205D I got for $100 on Gumtree. 208/208 0.429/0.429". Very mild. Running crash box don't forget.

Probably Brett but powerbond is $100. Will see what's on the shelf at cpp. I can't remember if the HP motor had one on it.

Yep, Ross are really pricey. They are SFI certified though, which keeps ANDRA/IHRA happy. Waaaaay overkill for a street car.

You can press them on, or tap them on. Tapping them on (with the tight clearance) needs enough force to mushroom the end of a Sidchrome 8"x1/2"-drive socket extension bar (.... not that I'd know anything about that   ). The one for the meth monster has had the crank skimmed down and a thread tapped into the crank-end to allow the use of an installer.

Cheers,
Harv

Just beware of "walking" the outer ring off the balancer when you drive the new one on. This is where a big lump of hardwood and a sledgehammer, swung gently, help.

Thanks still considering whether I can get the block in the press. I always worry about dinging the crank end float thingy.

If I were to get a blue motor gear I could use the nice clean blue timing cover with sensible advance graduations. Always wondered why the red ones only go about 3deg. Because my radiator is so close it is very tight seeing the timing marks.

Got a powerbond one for blue black 202 but in hindsight wonder if I should have got a 173 one as crank is 3" stroke. There are different part numbers.

3.3 has the fully counterweighted crank as well. I will be taking back and exchange for 2.8 version.
