Re: Gimme 5 years
You better change the name of this thread to “gimme 1 year “

I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

mmm yeah, bodywork is coming along - but there's plenty of other stuff as well - and it depends how often I can get out there.FireKraka wrote: Fri Dec 11, 2020 11:44 am Your Ute is really coming along fast 62 I'm with Blacky you will have it finished in no time.

I bought the ute in May 2019 (when I joined the forum) but was still working on the Sprinter...then we went up to Qld via the coast for winter ... came home for a week or so and headed off north again via Lightning Ridge etc... came back for a bit and then went to Tassie while it was warm
So I didn't get to start on it until April 2020 (when I started the thread) ... got a couple of months in before it got cold then went north to the Daintree for winter ... been back at it for a few months - missus is distracted doing a sailing course - once that's finished I'm sure my EK time will reduce again
but I'll get early beers

I put some passable (for me) chrome on the front ... haven't collected all the EK bits yet (for some reason it had some FB stuff on it when I got it)

Re: Gimme 5 years
Nice to be doing some lightweight tinkering ...
Connected up the wiring for the headlights, front parking/indicators and horn - (some new globes and cleaned up connections) - all good.
Worked on the ute tray drain tubes (I'd siliconed the hose connection before but missed some perished hose) - I'd drilled an additional drain hole to check and when I pulled the bung out after a storm the sub-floor was wet (I want the tray waterproof when I don't have the tonneau on) ... so I drilled the old bits out, flared some copper tube and dropped that in (and re-waterproofed the area)
Put on the windscreen wipers - got the windscreen nice and wet and slippery to find the actual sweep and park position - which is a bit different to to when the windscreen was dry.
Installed some washer jets - the replacement bonnet didn't have them so I toyed with the idea of getting rid of the washer bottle (missus said no)
btw...I see that all my spare wipers are passenger side - so if someone wants to do a swap for a drivers side let me know
