Afternoon. Bolted up brace and latch s nd turned over. It's over 30 in the shed. Extra thinners called for coats 4 & 5. I'm leaving it a while so I hope the thinners can get out properly just want to finish it in one go.

This is the original bonnet which i straightened out. Not putting too much effort in to it in tested. I fear it may flex and crack filler over the passenger hinge corner. Time will tell.Image

Went for another run up the hill with my mate and he did a video but probably just as well it's too big go share. Reckon I need new rear engine mounts. There was some blue smoke. Some misfiring under load in mid high rev range. Brakes had a pulse at first but then pulled up straight.

Haven't seen this for a while.ImageImageImage

Great stuff Clay !!

Once everything is done and you drive it the stark reality sets in that you wont know what to do with the spare time ????????

Oh yeah forgot there's a panel van in the back of the coupe just waiting :yeahhh: :yeahhh: :yeahhh: :yeahhh: :yeahhh:

Went to rares to try and get badge pin clips. Back order. Got some may work by accessing from behind which works for the bonnet. Three letters are nos or perhaps repro. Any way they are very bright. So will have to give the others a good polish.

They had a brand new light switch but at $160 I can justify some fiddling with the ones I have at home.

The pin clips are very ordinary - dont trust them on there own - a dob of silastic carefully places in each hole is safer - from behind even better

They worked on the bonnet of my EK sedan for 20 years Rob. The rear badge is a different story as the repro pins appear over size.

I really find single body colour and matching rims too bland. Anyway probably be Sampsons on it soon.

That bonnet needs a bit of a bend on the drivers side, pretty common.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

Thanks guys. Yes Blacky thanks for confirming. It has been in the wars and I haven’t given enough attention to getting it straight. I plan to give it a try on the car using a wee turnbuckle.

Booked a three day permit to drive down to Lonsdale next Thursday for rego identity check, then out to meet up with Sunny Tim and co at Nuriootpa on Saturday. Assuming I don’t get defected at the identity check of course and assuming I iron out a few bugs in the driveline oh and assuming the old 186 doesn’t conk out on the way. Bit of an unknown quantity at this stage. I don’t suppose I should put the L plates on and let Rafferty drive as I don’t know that would be permitted under the permit.
