Will be interested to see how that KBS engine paint turns out - did you go with the Chevy Grey? Seems to be closest to the grey of a grey motor...

Hmmmm if I wasn’t reading this thread backwards I wouldn’t have to have asked that question - regardless, I’m looking forward to seeing how the Chevy grey comes out!

One way or another I'll be playing with engines for a while yet Ric and that is after I paint and hang doors, guards and bonnet, oh and the wiring.

Comparison of the eBay inner HD tie rod end with the Protex ones I got from CPP yesterday. Rear one being correct Protex part. Hopefully be able go get full lock now. There was also an issue with the tapers requiring washers to pull them in.Image

Fitted up the new inners to the drag link and still required two washers either side to get the castellated nuts in the right spot for split pins, but at least I was able to leave out the thickest third washers. I do have some shim material somewhere I was considering trying if I can find it now. Taper nuts torqued to 50-55 lb ft.

Hi Bill,
It is just what the paint shop had and haven’t tried it yet. Rest assured when I do I will post results on this thread. Wurth are a popular quality brand so should be readily available, but I’m not saying it is any better than any other product at sticking door rubbers. Previously I’ve used Tarzan’s Grip style contact adhesive to good effect, but once it is in position there is no opportunity for revision. That is not strictly true as the door rubbers I intend using here were previously in my sedan, god rest her.

Paint shop said this would be a tad lighter than the "Holden" grey from KBS but I don't think so. Oh well.

The block and timing cover had previously never been painted, and together with the vicco cop engine number now leads me to believe that this was a GMH short motor with the EH head etc bolted on. This isn't really what I was hoping for rego wise so we will see.Image

It's a grey motor, officer. Just like they came out with from the factory

Sad thing is, few people now could pick the difference.
