Ute door locks
Ute door locks
I'm sure this is the silliest question for 2020 but: my EK ute has a key lock on the passenger door, but no lock or hole on the drivers side- what's going on? I only noticed this after looking to see what locks I had for sedan doors having just been told the sedan ones I have are actually &*#@ locks, and not Holden. Do utes normally have drivers side key locks?

Re: Ute door locks
Let me put this to the test.
Abbotsford. Abbotsford must have taken its name from a river crossing near a monastery: so abbots' &*#@. In the absence of a bridge, there was instead a &*#@. Said the abbot, "&*#@ the blessed river!"
Look at that. Even the common noun (that is, no capital F) is converted into gibberish. But not if it is part of another word.
I am amused.

Re: Ute door locks
I have a 62 EK Ute and are the second owner. It only has ever had the passenger side lock. Maybe something to do with not standing on the road in the traffic while unlocking the car???
Re: Ute door locks
I think this has been talked about before and I remember it used to be illegal to enter a car from the road side. Bench seat and slide across.

Re: Ute door locks
This topic comes up regularly. Standards and commercials only had passenger side lock from FX through EK at least. It is hard for us to conceive the reasoning in this age of central locking, standard aircon and heated mirrors. Got my first EK in 86 and one of the first things I did was fit a lock set from a special so I could have a drivers door lock. These days I value the idiosyncratic over practical, and rarely need to lock my car in any case, so my ute won’t be modified. I’ve owned FB215, EK215, FB2104 and EK2106, so n9ne of my car# have come ei5h driver side locks from factory. Not counting Elle’s FC225 of course.

I believe HR was the last of the no drivers door lock standards , my HR ute has a drivers door lock but it is nowhere near stock

Re: Ute door locks
My Ute also only has the passenger side lock but I fitted central locking so removes the hassle of only being able to unlock from one side, easy to fit in a Ute.
