more interior colour changes i want to show off
wife does not like the white and preffered the black steering wheel/guages oh well, i like it, you can't please everyone.
painted and clear coated steering wheel with cracks and horn contact repaired.
painted and clear coated beehive, polished and clear coated steering column and indicator stalk.
i was thinking or polishing the beehive but its not steel, its some kind of aluminium casting and comes up a totally fifferent colour to the column and indicator stalk
it happened by accident Andrew,
i started to give it a light sanding to prep for paint, rubbed through the black and didn't stop.it only goes as far as the support bracket....for now. did it with 400grit w/d and finished with 800 grit w/d and sanded it with longs strips to give it uniform direction. tried finer grades and that just seemed to dull the Linished look to a dullish grey. same deal for indicator stalk.
its steel so it won't stay bright like that unless its clear coated.
i'm quite chuffed with it.
hope the paint on the steering wheel lasts, missus refused to remove her ring to drive it
Hey arty, what is the gear shifter and gear indicator from. Looks good, the one in my car look's like crap and I want to change it. If you let me know I'd be real happy. Cheers Pat
had a splurge on the old girl....new motor, extractors, intake, carb, 3 core aluminium radiator and thermo fan, exhaust with sports muffler,
202 bored out to 208 with ACL pistons, y/t head ported and polished, ss valve guides for unleaded rollers, mild cam. race ballancer, holley 350, K&N 3 inch filter with filter top, catch can, gateswater pump + new 100 amp alternator, HID headlights, LED parkers and indicators.....goes a bit better than the old 173 with Stommy and the HID amkes halogens look like candles.
will be changing the filter top to solid, not too fussed on the K&N filter top, + new KC alloy rocker cover as the rollers are just touching the u/s of the chrome cover....
Struggling to find the time to take it for a drive and run it in, have had it back and running for a few weeks now but only managed to put about 100km on it.
new radiator, thermo fans and the radiator support crosmember notched a little to give me more than 5mm from back of radiator to face of waterpump pulley bolts...all triggered when i found that my fanbelt was cactus and the radiator had a nice circle mashed into the back face of it from the water pump pulley bolts and i couldnt take the fan belt out without taking the radiator out first....imagine doing that roadside to replace a fanbelt. had intentions of moving it forward another 10mm than i already have but the radiator cap catches on the underside of the bonnet bar that goes from left to right
You must have plenty of clearance to the firewall at the back then, assuming you would have to be running short snout water pump. Nice engine bay dress up.

looks great, what diff have you got under it?
i dont remember GPI. used to be a screamer with 13's years ago then i got 14s and a taller geared diff that lets me get over 100 without sitting on a redline. still a standard single spinner though and it is still a handful with the cheese cutters and wet weather.

just enough to lift off the rocker cover while sticking your tongue out just right and lifting the front of it off to a matching angle. only mod to the firewall is the seam between firewall and floorpan had to be hammered flat where the extractors come out of the head on the back cylinder.

So running original carb linkage?

not much left of the original between the grille and firewall.
yes, not a fan of the 350. its too big for the 202 and smothers it a bit. a set of twin strombergs with beehive ribbed filters would be a nice replacement.
