is it as solid as it looks?
Yeah It's not to bad in the rust department. The passanger front floor needs replacementing and there is a little on the passanger side in the boot but there isn't any in the chassis rail or anything like that. There is a lot of surface rust tho!
ratbox wrote:what are you doing to it body and paint wise? if it were me i'de leave it the way it is and put a V8 or stinking hot red in it drop it a few inches (canberra has good roads so about 5" ) and a set of white walls
Most likely it will get a quick respray in the same pink and slip a red motor in it just to get it driving. Once its past rego i will dump it in the weeds! With the plan of updating the engine to a toyota turbo straight six but leaving it looking like Grandma's Standard sedan. The perfect sleeper

Not to much has been happening since my last post just dug out a HR frontend and put it in the boot (so it doesn't go walkies) and a look at what isn't in the engine bay LOL
Also got a shot of the inside.
I'm hopefull that i can get it driving by the end of the year but i just bought an apartment so that might hurt my chances of that happening

Im no restorer but my first thought was get that out of there

Yes - you can get anotherr boot mat - for 300 clams.....
Anyway -don't want to get too heavy, it's your car
Guess I'm one of those restorers
Sadly i don't have another EK that i can get regoed
I would love to keep it standard but i'm thinking that a red motor would be more reliable for a everyday car.

grey motors are as reliable as any red just a bit less power
Yep with a bit of care a grey will keep going and going and going....
My old EK ran a grey, driven daily it never ran hot and din't miss a beat, even after I sold it to a mate who made it to Queensland fully loaded with all his wordly belongings...
Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

Plenty out there that you could mod up!!!
Yeah after looking at the pics you took of all those Original EK at the Nationals i'm battling with the idea of keeping it standard
I'm going to give the old girl a respray soon (standard Colour) no matter which way i go and then make my mind up. Hopefully in the mean time a EK/FB will come up so i don't have to butcher this one.
My main issue is finding a replacement that has as little amount of rust as this one

Mine was near perfect after having nothing in the boot for 16 years until I started driving it and fuel leaked out the sender into the boot, perishing the mat
