Yes. Got a pair made for FE FC sedan from Pete Mallaby. They need to be trimmed slightly to match the bumperettes. Got for the van but might as well use them. The originals are probably serviceable but a bit desiccated. The retainers are a bit lacy but will paint up and do the job. Otherwise I would have to grind them off and tack on some new ones. CBF.

You can also buy perfect fit ones from Better Auto Rubbers that dont need trimming.
If anyone wants a cheap set I have a set of the FE-FC ones I no longer need - un-trimmed

Doing the sill bottom is a pain with the car on all fours.

Tried Ranex in the tray. I kind of like the look. If I paint it it will only get scratched. I don't
know.

Got to get the sill clean and drop it down so I can beat some dings rear of the drivers door.

Jeez Clay! I turn my back on the forum for a couple of weeks and look at how much you've done! Huge progress mate, really is looking good. I'll follow more closely (in between reading up on Studebaker tech...)

Ranex - is that like Penetrol? I'm about to start experimenting with that on my Stude. I'm not ordinarily a convert to the deliberate patina thing myself, but the way cars rust in California looks very different to the way they do here... the metal is a healthy beneath the appearance, which is more than can be said most rusty, east coast Holdens I've played with.

I used rubberised paint in the tray of Leroy and I confess I much prefer the look of yours, but mine has stood up to a lot of abuse with nary a scar over the last year of regular use as packhorse.

Hi Clay, I like the look too but if you’re using Ranex Rustbuster, you’re likely to get rust happening pretty soon again - it converts rust but doesn’t provide protection. If you read the instructions it says this is likely so you need to protect it with some type of coating to prevent rust. I tried an experiment on a rusty sheet a while back and, yep sure enough, the rust came back within a week or two.

Ranex not like penettol I don't think Joe. It converts iron oxide to iron phosphate.

Think I will buzz it back and 2k etch after all. It is that or metal fix.

Bondall the Ranex manufacturer recommend painting with oil based primer. Doesn’t that then preclude acrylic, and what about epoxy?

Yes it normally does. I would use it under the tray where you don't see it. If you want to retain the old look in the tray, the rage is scuffing with green pads surface rust included then 2 part clear over the top. Once sealed the rust wont move because there is no oxygen to promote the reaction.

Under the tray certainly but then need to seal with something oil based and non porous. Cavity wax or lanolin maybe?

Hi Clay,

In the areas you cant see or reach I used the below products, Penetrol,then Penetrol aluminium then the PPC man made fishoil.

The penetrol products are oil based, the fishoil runs into every nook and cranny dries and is water resistant.

The areas such as under the roof I used a product called gravitex stone guard. It sticks real good and acts as a noise suppressor,
I also stuck dynamat to that and I am very confident it wont peel off flake etc.
