Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
That’s where it’s going Neil. It’s kind of fun but monotonous.

Still stripping paint. The original primer is very hard to move making me wonder why I am bothering. Oh well.
Filled up the flute between tailgate and spare wheel door. Got it pretty good but needs finishing off. I haven't decided whether to continue building up with mig or filler.

Tydying up the bonnet. Got the letters off. L & N each lost a pin. One thread in the bonnet bar is flogged out. Just trying to get off any trace of dark blue. Was thinking prime and fill with 1k Dulon primer filler.

A lot of moisture in the gun. Seems to be clogging after a while. I will empty the tank and run through a trap.
Cowl coming up well. I was going to run with an aerial in the cowl panel per original. Will need a method to seal the gap. What have others done?

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
MMMM a little patch there Clay.
Round piece slightly smaller than the hole, spot weld method with the mig and cool each spot with compressed air so it wont buckle.
Grind Grind fill fill as per usual.
I would 2 part epoxy then prime with the hi fill, it just seals all the old stuff off from having any reactions like sink spots etc.
Thanks for the carby spacer, this one I will drill and tap and put in some machined barbs, that will fix it !!!!

Good progress there Clay
Thanks for the opportunity to have a closer look yesterday. Does look like a sandstorm has blown through the Ute & shed though!

Cheers Stephen. Very helpful being able to refer to your ute at the same time. You and Neil have persuaded me to go with the Tonnos n stuff people. Spent the arvo on mates trailer floor and gained extra respect for the trailer when I realised it was running ridgy HK rims. Only got to do a bit more sand blasting. Mother hasn’t commented on all the sand on the bedroom floor yet.
Now Greg, I’m off to super cheap to see if I can find a shiny whippy aerial to fill that hole. I will mock up and see how it looks.

Still a bit of stripping to do around the window openings. I'm just doing outside.
Mocking up the tow bar. Won't be pulling any car trailers, well you never know.

Bought an aerial to try out. I don't know. I like how it looks but not very secure and will be difficult to seal effectively. I may end up filling the holes. Anyway here are a couple of photos.

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
Seal doesn't really matter Clay as you have a drain right underneath it - the rates kits are pretty crap quality unfortunately so I'd try find a half decent original and just use the new rubber seal out of the rares kit - it's the best place for them - in the guards they just get covered in crap and wet all the time unless of course you were thinking fancy electric model
You will find me lost somewhere!

Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
whats it look like under the plenum cover? if there are holes under it to fill, a couple more probably make sense to fill. I noticed on Valerie the few extra screws that had been used to secure the windscreen trim on only promoted the surrounding area to rust. Does a bigger hole make the problem worse?
Re: Clay’s Wedgewood Blue FB Ute
I agree apart from looking not right there is a big hole in the plenum, that will leak onto the floor regardless of the antenna seal.gpi wrote: Tue Nov 05, 2019 7:58 am whats it look like under the plenum cover? if there are holes under it to fill, a couple more probably make sense to fill.
