Yes Blacky sure was. I probably spent just as much if not more time on the grinder cleaning them up. Hopefully the passenger side will be quicker.

Yes these are great fun to make !

I'm not sure what motor mounts you are using but make sure there is at least 10mm gap everywhere otherwise they will hit with the engine movement.
Here is NSW that is a requirement so its pretty hard to squeeze them in.

The good old engine bay of the EK just has no room for pleasures like this !!!!!

Great work as usual Taz.

When I look at the amount of work involved to maintain a decent gap for engine torque, Taz must be a very patient man. I would have wussed out and put in an engine plate  .

I do need to take a bit more out where I have already notched it where the two back pipes go pass, you can see the chalk marks identifying the areas which need attention. Apart than than that there is 15mm minimum clearance everywhere.

Coming along very nicely thanks to your incredible perseverance and skill taz. Read somewhere inspection requires 10mm clearance engine and exhaust to any other components.

The 10mm come from the NCOP Section LA Engines:
2.4 CLEARANCES
The engine must clear all surrounding components in the engine bay at maximum engine movement including under maximum torque in both forward and reverse gears. A clearance of at least 10mm must be provided beyond that required for maximum engine movement. Additional clearance must be provided to components likely to deteriorate from the heat from nearby engine and exhaust components. In particular, flexible fuel pipes, power steering hose and steering column shaft couplings incorporating rubber or fabric components must be placed well clear of hot exhaust components and shielded if necessary.

Had a couple of hours spare on the weekend so I fabbed up and mounted the remote brake reservoir ImageImageImage

Neat location. It should clear the wiper arms by the looks of it, but worth checking JIC.

Hi Harv,

I have converted the wipers to a remote mounted motor which uses a flexible cable to operate the wipers. Not much room left under the dash as now have a remote booster set up and air-con unit taking up space.

Passenger side pipes all tacked up. Even though there is more room due to no steering shaft I still stuffed around for a good 4 hours putting it all together. Oh well guess I will need to weld them up and linish the welds flat before the final fit up.ImageImageImage
