1/4 vent window help

Post by mpeck83 »

Anyone able to offer any advice on what I can do with my broken 1/4 vent window handle? I just finish replacing all the window seals on the front doors and the handle for the 1/4 window broke as I closed the window.
Thanks

There is a roll-pin in the bottom of the handle. Gently tap it out with a drift (or small nail), and the handle comes off. Find a replacement handle via the forum. Install again using the roll-pin.

Don't lose the little spring that preloads the locking mechanism. They have a tendency to surprise me when the handle comes off. Often it's the frame mounted tube that snaps off which requires significantly more work. Body grease as alibricant when you reinstall or vasso if that is all you can get your hands on.

It is the frame mounted tube that has snapped the off, the handle and button assembly snap off from the window frame. Can this be fixed without sourcing a replacement 1/4 vent window?
Thank heaps for your help!

It is possible but easier to get a replacement, give it a kitchen table overhaul and install. Either way it is out with both main then quarter window. You should be able to get one from someone on here. Where you situated.

I'm in Melbourne, pulling out the window and 1/4 vent window is no problem as I just had it all out to do the window seals and found them not to bad to get out. Would anyone have a replacement window?
