Rubbers

Post by mpeck83 »

I'm looking at replacing my 1/4 windows seal, Bailey channels and door seal and was wondering where is the best place to buy them from these days. I'm in Melbourne.

I use the boys at Rare Parts in Welshpool, W.A. They use a slightly different doorseal that shuts nice , there was talk on here a year or so back that Rare Spares changed their doorseals to make them easier to close which was a problem with the old ones but I have not tried them so I cant comment.
I started with nothing and still have most of it left.

I replaced nearly all my rubbers a few months back. all went well. My door rubbers weren't brand new, so the old style the fellas are talking about. Sure, I had to slam my doors for a bit, but with time and rubber conditioner they are fine now.

I really recommend the Rare spares door rubbers and windscreen rubbers installation videos. and Locktite 424 as your glue!

Oh, and if you can find some new rear quarter window rubbers ANYWHERE, let us all know about it. :ughh:

Funny this, I bought some new door seals from rare spares today and was impressed by the shape and quality.

I also have the old set from ah at least 15 years ago   and they did not come close to fitting correctly, however the new ones ( and yes they have remoulded them are great, nice and soft and fit in the channel very easy.

A comparison the old style bottom was much fatter in the channel area so don't squash like the new ones.

The door closes and there seems to be no distortion in the window frames
