Stevo, I'm a long way from home at present... my techo man tells me the HR ones are stamped with a "HR" on them somewhere.
If you took these off a HD prem with disc brakes.. then they are most likely HD lower arms..... same as mine.

Of course - it's some 50 years now since these were new.... goodness only knows who has swapped what for what with anything we have now... your HD front end may have come from a HR... but, HD disc front ends were available during the model release.

As best I know, the difference mentioned between HR front ends is only the assembly between upper and lower balljoints... i.e., the entire unit - either disc or drum brake... I am told that all HR arms are the same.... but, HD lower arms are 1/4" shorter - pivot to ball joint.

I'll know more when I speak with the chap who is helping me.. and can access my MPC info..

you have me more confused now than I was before ole mate is saying the difference is between drum and disk not Hr & HD if your arms came off a disk braked hD they are the longer version all ready is how I make out what he said. With the arms being the same between HD & HR but being different between drums and disks is how interpret what he said let me know if I'm wrong please.

steveo,
I won't be able to clear this up factually until I get home.
When we have both lower arms (HD and HR) - we'll be able to measure the differences.
I am now keener than ever to get at my master parts catalogue (GMH "bible) - it will have listed all parts, for both disc and drum versions of HD and HR.. that is, all four - if there are four.
My information is that there are only two versions of lower control arm - the shorter HD one, and the longer HR one.

The HD came out with a king pin front end - the disc brake option was of course a ball joint front end.
This HD ball joint front end had shorter lower control arms (by 1/4") than the latter HR one - it was determined by GMH that this longer 1/4" would assist in better handling.

The HR came out with only a ball joint front end - as far as I have been told, the lower control arm for both drum and disc options for HR was the same.

This is as I understand what I have been told by my "techo" man..

Again, Stevo - I'm not disputing what your "ole mate" is telling you.... as I cannot support any claim I am making due to not having documentation whilst on the road.... I can't get to my reference books.

Guys and gals
Any info on ball joints in HD? Where they across the range at the end of the model run or only with disc brakes?
Cheers

Are the top control arms the same between hr and hd I' m now wondering about my own ek. It would of been nice to know the lower arms are different 10 years ago for me some how I've arsed a set of lower arms that have hr on them on the car if I ever drive the the ek as for buying a bridge I can't afford a postage stamp.
Apologises for telling bullshit storys the bloke made out he knew what he was saying.
