Notice to all FB EK Holden owners in NSW.
The FB EK Holden Car Club of NSW has registered with the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS)
as a Club that is participating with the Classic Vehicle Log Book Trial.
The log book trial allows classic vehicles to be used for an additional 60 days of general use (ie maintenance and personal use) each year,
"outside of club organised events". Each day’s use must be recorded in a log book issued at a registry or service centre.
The Club believes this is a great proposal as it really enables historic vehicles to be able to get out on the road
and driven more often which is what it should be all about at a much reduced registration cost.
An FB EK Holden Classic Vehicle is over 30 years old and retains its original drive train
and running gear with some period accessories allowed.
A Modified Vehicle Log Book Trial will commence sometime in early 2016 and will cater for FB EK Holdens
that have red or V8 motors, HR front ends or Torana rear ends. The Club has also registered for this Trial.
The log book trial will operate for two years, with an evaluation to be completed during this period
as part of Roads and Maritime’s review of the overall Conditional Registration Scheme.
To opt in to this trial you must be a member of a registered car club on the RMS list.

Wayne.
Is it 60 days of personal use as well as club events or 60 days of use per year full stop?
Tony.

To my knowledge the 60 days is in addition to authorised club use.Brian Westlake wrote:Wayne.

This is often misquoted.WayneXG95 wrote:Notice to all FB EK Holden owners in NSW.

The correct term is 'period accessories', not 'modifications'.
The exact RTA/RMS wording is "Historic vehicles must be as close to original condition as possible, with no alterations except for safety features such as seatbelts and turn indicators, or period accessories and options, if desired."

Re: Notice to all FB EK Holden owners in NSW.
Thanks Dr Terry.
This being the case, NSW Main Roads is offering a great opportunity to owners of club vehicles. I'm up here in Qld and we are struggling with a scheme with more Grey Areas than I have Grey Motors in various places in my back yard (They are all covered up and turn over) The main Council of motoring clubs up here, fight tooth and nail to retain our Concessional rego scheme, which they think is the best in Australia but is actually the most expensive, and the freedoms they think they have, mostly involve abusing the scheme or some wild interpretation of the wording which, in an accident where someone has been injured, would be put to the real test. The beauty of a logbook in my opinion, is that as long as you have filled out the appropriate entry and you werent breaking the law (speeding, hooning etc.) you should have a good chance that your CTP is valid.
Anyway, I think you guys down there should definitely take up this offer because if we had it up here I know that I would definitely take part.
Regards Tony.
