Well we finally got out pictures today of the wedding so here they are!

First and foremost Belinda and I want to thank Sarah for allowing us to use her car in the wedding. She had done a lot of work on hers prior to the wedding to make sure there were no issues on the day and the car didn't miss a beat. Thanks Sarah for making it a great and successful day. Your car looked a treat and drew a lot of comments.
Secondly to all those on the forum and in the wider FB/EK community that gave me advice, encouragement, and helped out with parts. I would have never got our car done in the short time that we did. The wedding day was her first real maiden voyage of any substance (90km one way) and I can tell you I was a bit tense waiting for their arrival, but it went off without a hitch. Again, thanks everyone and we hope to catch up soon after a break from it all......well after xmas anyway!

Cheers.

Craig & Belinda.

What a great finish to a terrific build. Congrats guys !!!
Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer

Grecian White/Apache Red 225

Post by Craig Allardyce »

Hi all,

well its been a long wait but I've finally received a picture of some of my trim being made in the states. Apparently its not far from being shipped. I've yet to see the bolster patterns for the seats and the completed door cards. The wait has been painful but the more I see the more I'm encouraged by the quality of the work. Just wish we could do it in Aus.
Anyway here's a pic of the red fleck reproduced so far. Its spot on from I can tell but I'm trying to confirm the red as it looks a little dark.

I bet Tim and a few others might be keen on it now.
A soon as I get some details of the rest of the trim I'll let everyone know.
Cheers.

A little more work done last week aside from the boat taking up much of my time.
Stainless exhaust with headers now done. Its now out to 1 3/4" with 2" muffler (yeh yeh big deal I know! ). Muffler joints flanged and bolted with an additional slip joint above the diff for easy removal if I need to later on.

Performance is a little better now and now the engine appears to be running a little cooler (my temp sender is mounted at the hottest point at the back of the engine close to No6 exhaust port). Radiator is getting re-cored as the original one wasn't performing too well in the heat at highway speeds. I'm hoping to have that Thursday and be ready for our first car run Saturday.
Next step is to get on with fitting up the Weber and getting a little more poke out of the Grey. Mileage is still very steady at around 25 - 26 mpg (mix of highway & around town) so I'm happy with that so far.

A little update today.
Been trying to make a start on getting all the finishing touches done prior to the Nats.
Pulled the list today and I think a lot wont get done as time will beat me. Anyway I've finally got the weber on, sorted the linkage and choke.
Initial running is too lean with an off idle flat spot. I'm liking these carbs heaps as all rejetting is done directly from the top without fuel loss and in bugger all time. Changing venturi chokes takes all of 5 mins. So far I need to up my idle jets so I can richen up the progression ports. After that its just main and air correction jets, and emulsion tubes. Final testing will be done with a fuel ratio meter that I have but I need to get a bung welded into the exhaust. Wish I had the hindsight to have done that when I got the exhaust fitted!
I'm still yet to make up knew fuel, distributor vacuum, and wiper vacuum lines and I'm undecided on which way to route the fuel line away from the exhaust but keeping within the lines of the engine and rocker cover.......getting fussy I think! Work continues for the Nats....................
