Varies dramatically depending on:
a) how much prep has been done (eg paint stripping, blasting, dissasembly etc),
b) how much rust or other panel repairs need to be done,
c) the amount of painting to be done (closed door job versus rotisseree work)
d) the quality of the finish you are hunting (Queen Street Smash versus Backyard Bob)
e) how long you are prepared to wait.
f) how much of the above you do yourself.

Anywhere from $1,500 to $15,000 for a project car, double that (or more) for show cars.

Cheers,

How long is a piece of string?

between 5 and 20k (and upwards) depending on what you want, the amount of bodywork to get it ready and where you get it done.

Any expectations lower that that will get paint put on your car, but not much of a paintjob.

Thanks guys been checking out a few cars - one has paint that needs a touch up. No rust (that I could see) and panels are straight.

Thats a topic that always incites much deliberation , It comes down to what you want it to be at the end of the day , What condition its in , Whats under the old paint , are just a few points , if you want 2 pack [ you dont have a lot of choice ] as Acrylic Laquer is a poor substitute for quality these days , & its most likely that it will need stripping because 2 pack will delaminate if sprayed over Acrylic materials which then snowballs in to a restoration because when you get to that point you end up ripping out old repairs . So my in opinion the very cheapest respray if you are lucky enough to have an exceptional body closed door respray 5-6 k , ive just recently finished a &*#@ torino 20 k , combi 20 k & The EK i,m doing for my self i have sunk 14k into it buying up which already over capilizes the cars worth not including an enormous amount of labour & paint that would have emounted up to another probable 20 k But i,d rather do that than go & buy some brand new shit box thats worth bugger all in 4 years , sorry if this is long winded as there is always conjecture with how much is a repaint & i get asked this every week
