Got the 132 powerhouse in without too much grief, except for the accelerator arm catching on the corner of the manifold preventing the right side stud fitting into the support bracket, will require some sort of mod
Didn't have chains, so I slung it with ex RAAF cargo straps rated at 500lbs.......that I "borrowed"
So here are some pics of todays effort even got the missus to help

Assistance Please - Radiator / Fan
Gday FBEK'ers
First I'll describe the mounting then the my radiator issue.....
Mounted the eng last week, its a 132 (2 x strommies with speco intake manifold). I required the smaller type front eng mount to suit the timing cover and outrigger. The engine seems to be sitting ok, but I do think for some reason it may be sitting rearward too much? as the block is about 10mm from touching firewall seam? I have adjusted a spare accelerator linkage to fit around the speco intake manifold however it hits the rear of the rocker cover when the movement of the accelerator linkage is going through the acceleration movement and before full throttle (I'm assuming) as I don,t have the carbies linked etc. (may have to go cable option on this one?)
Now for the radiator, I have two types and after checking model numbers, I have, 7416663 EJ and 7409838 FE-EK.
The EJ model is in good nick but as I found out the fan protrudes above the radiator, So I temp fitted the FE-EK radiator and noticed the fan will cut through top hose when it is fitted
Apologies for the long thread, but need to paint the picture. Is there a smaller fan I require or has it go something to do with the engine mounts / mounting?
Feedback is appreciated.

its the wrong fan for a grey. The blades should be about the top of the thermostat housing

The thing is NickZ, The fan size is the same as my other spare fan that came out of the same stock FB the original radiator came out of, this is why it's puzzling me. The out riggers are the same as well!??

Righto, lets see if we can tie this down. The measurements below are taken from a (pretty much) bog stock FB sedan with a grey and crashie. All measurements are rough as guts tapemeasure ones. a) Is your radiator too low?
Measuring from the top of the radiator tank (not the cap... the top surface that burns your gut when leaning over to do the timing) down to the top of the front bar (the bar that mounts between the guards, has almost triangular plates on the ends, the bonnet catch bit bolts to it) I get 40mm.
b) Is your fan too big?
Measuring from the centre of the water pump shaft to the fan blade tip I get 200mm.
c) Is your engine too high up?
Take the air cleaner off, put the spirit level or a flat bit of wood across the bonnet drain channels (the U-shaped bits on the guards that you store your spanners and loose bolts in when working on the car). Measuring down to the top of the rocker cover breather I get 50mm.

My fan is approx 200mm from centre to tip
I have an FJ serial numbered grey using fb/ek rear engine mounts and FX/FJ front mount to accommodate the timing cover and out rigger, as per my forum pics.
The front of the support member has provisions to mount both radiators I have, the EJ and FB / EK.

That front mount plate looks to be wrong or modified. The height from the mount to the balancer looks a lot larger than normal.
Usually the bottom edge of the balancer is just near or below the lowest edge of the mounting plate (depends on which balancer). That one looks like its been changed. From memory the outriggers on a FX/FJ were vastly different to FE onwards.
I think your engine is tilted back too far because of the mount plate. Could be why your manifold is hitting too.

Craig,
I think your on the right track I do have a plate from my other bits n pieces (they all came with the project) I've got the removal tool but I had to hit the balancer on, I did not feel comfortable with this, but read that this can be normal? Anyway..... looks like the plate change has to be done.

This looks like the plate that needs to go on, Fu@# knows what was going on with the plate that came with the engine. Well another challenge and venture where I haven't been before. Tips are welcome

The outrigger pictured side on in your front end looks a shit load higher as well. Could be FX/FJ outrigger on your front end too. More pics.

Apparently this 132 came out of this FB, the previous owner purchased them both at different times as the seller at the time was reluctant to sell the engine with the car at first.
What suggestions you got, rather not take engine bits n pieces off and on
