Tyson! - you've made my day.... dibs to you!

As for picking up bits and pieces to complete your car - I do very much hope this takes years until you get the complete period set...
Many of us chase stuff up, and may pick up a bit here and there.... but eventually get all that's needed to bring the "build" back to where it would have been - so many years back....

Congratulations on your respondees... nothing is ever going to take this old girl away from you.. and the more you bring it back - the more response you'll get..

Now, go find that other vehicle and start your dream build....

Cudos to you, many younger members of our ranks just can't appreciate the potential of an original - when one pops up for grabs... we've lost so many (including mine) over the years.....

Thanks Stephen, might have to look into that one.

Tim and Wayne, would much appreciate it! Let me know how u go. :ewink:

Rosco, I thought u'd be happy. Haha. I've never been big on the whole original thing but this car has really grown on me. And now that I've done my good will to classic Holden, the next one I find I'm allowed to cut up hey?.. Is that how it works?

Also, I remembered the other thing that I needed to find... The hubcaps! The car came with a full set but I reckon they're HR or similar, the are fairly flat and not very deep, not deep enough to clear the grease caps on the front hubs! There was one other hubcap in the boot which looked more like the correct one, but that's it... Just one!

This looks simillar to what I have a set of...

The odd one out that I have looks something like this... But without the red and black paint on it...

Is the last one the original FB cap??

Cheers,
Tyson

Yes, Tyson - you've saved this old girl... and yes, I don't believe the next one you find is going to be in such an original state.

Hubcaps - if what you have are in good nick, stick with them for now... anything looks so much better than not having any.
As you travel the traps, you'll probably pick up FB caps over time..... it is probably now that you can begin to acknowledge that finding and returning an original car to "period" is not as easy as many believe.... and so my point in stance on vehicles which are just to complete to cut up..

You might also find that posting on the Torrie and HD/HR forums that you have a complete set..... as in wanted to swap for original FB in good nick...
My opinion is that the caps you have are HD and FC... but I'm not absolutely sure - as Brett states, the later one could be from one of the Torana models... HR had white inserts.

You will most likely find replacements more readily available within clubs .... as in the WA chapter of our association.
Not all FB/EK owners subscribe to this forum - or the clubs who support it. Happy hunting!

When, and not "if" you find your next car to build the dream, I'm pretty confident you'll bear your own reward in not touching this one.... it won't be far into the build that you'll realise saving this old girl is everything myself and others have opined..

In your travels, you'll probably now also look for "original" parts for this FB.... you'll be amazed at what you will now see.... and this, your hubcap search - is your entry into identifying parts from your model.....
